I am asking forgiveness…I bit off more than I could chew when I said I would be sharing from my past one-word writings here on the blog. I know many of you have been with me along the many years as I have shared, and much of this is old news. But I do find great encouragement in looking back at how God continues to bless and guide this one small endeavor. So I will ask forgiveness, and instead of continuing to share individual revisions of past posts, I am sharing the list, for you to see if anything grabs you. Phew.
Have you landed on your one word yet? Or should I say, has your one word made its way into your new year?
Well, below I have linked the posts related to my own journey. I no longer make resolutions. Those sparks that seem to set the flesh on fire for three months, and often are embers before Spring- they are a distant memory. It’s not that I don’t have goals, as I do. But God’s vision for my life is better than the best goals or intentions I can come up with. When I allow one word to direct my view for the year, it becomes an umbrella over all of those things I trust God is leading me to do, or not to do. It’s not as clear-cut as, say, doing 50 pushups. It’s more like my days start to align well with what matters. Sometimes it’s surprising. But always, it keeps me focused on the Lord’s will over my own. And that, my friends, is a powerful thing. Getting stuff done to get stuff done is irrelevant if it’s stuff that doesn’t matter. I can be so good at that, but by the grace of God and the guiding power of His Holy Spirit, he directs my path, corrects my direction (sometimes more often than I’d care to admit). But this whole One Word thing…it continues to be a beautiful, fruitful blessing to my life. For that, I am thankful. I think some people really need to learn how to allow GOd to truly direct them. They are always questioning, ‘ Is this me, or is it God?’ I have found it gets clearer as I lean on the Lord and not my own strength and understanding- one of the reasons I listen in for my word instead of picking it out of a hat.
Do you find the One Word journey to be a blessing, or have you not quite found your pace with it?
I have written consistently on each of my One Word experiences- the discovery of and walking with on my blog throughout each year.
