I’m certain of two things: prayerless lives are powerless lives, and prayerful lives are powerful lives.
A short while ago, I invited my readers on Blogger to join in a ten week prayer journey, using Whispers of Hope by Beth Moore, which would begin the first weekend in February. Here it is February 1, 2014 and the journey begins today. Of course, we will be venturing right here at my new place: https://enthusiasticallydawn.com/ instead of at the old.
What you will need to join the journey:
Whispers of Hope by Beth Moore– this is our tool to carry with us on the journey. God is our guide. I like how Beth puts it, “I trust God to individualize how He desires to use this handbook in your personal life.”
Through my involvement with Moms In Prayer as both participant and leader, this format appealed to me greatly, because it has such a similar feel to the MIP format, but I appreciate the adaptation and acronym P.R.A.I.S.E. that is suggested. The focus and starting of praise in my prayer life was a turning point that I learned through my wonderful mentoring with MIP.
If you are not yet familiar with the book or acronym, here is what it stands for:
P-Praise, R-repentance, A-acknowledgement, I-intercession, S-supplication, E-Equipping
Beth shares the specific but brief details in the introduction. The rest of the book is simply the Scripture reading and devotional part fit which fit one page, and two pages total allowed with empty lined spaces for journaling under the headings (Praise, repentance, Acknowledgement, Intercession, Supplication, Equipping).
I have opted to use a separate journal (smaller pink one pictured above) so I can adjust the amount of space to accommodate my words as I see fit. This is optional. Last night, I actually was out and perusing journals and notebooks. I am using a large, Markings, soft covered pink, journal I purchased at Wal-Mart, as my daily journal. When I saw the pink smaller version, I thought it would be a perfect accompaniment. Both are in the above picture , along with my favorite journaling pen and the book. Pink is the new black, I don’t care what anyone says!
You will need a Bible , which seems obvious, but I am a listmaker and it must be in the list, to be accurate.
What you will need to do to join in the journey:
1. Commit: This is a 10 week, 70 day endeavor. Make no bones about it, it is a committment. Prayer is the priority, but I also am asking for anyone who is participating to check in with a comment each Sunday. In this way we will support one another and truly be journeying together. Even if you missed days (I will be praying non of us do), or only give a comment of “Here I am”, I am asking for this minimum participation. We need each other. I want to see your Gravatar or little faceless icons in the comment section weekly. Got it?
2. Check In (one time via E-Mail) : If you are on this journey would you mind sending me your e-mail? I have special encouragement along the way and a participation gift for all who are joining for the journey. I will communicate privately through e-mail. I promise not to bombard you with e-mails. This is for accountability and encouragement. Please send me your confirmation at firstname.lastname@example.org (this way I can confirm I have your correct e-mail). It also wil create and solidify our little group as we will be walking the path together. I know some of you have mentioned participating in a more relaxed way, and that is fine as well! Feel free to pray, comment and share insights with us each weekend, and you don’t need to send me an e-mail confirmation in that case).
Any day not surrenderd to the authority of the Holy Spirit will automatically be lived in the flesh.
That’s a wrap! I sent this post early since it is our official day 1 and I wanted to remind you, you travel not alone. For the next 10 weeks I will be posting more usually on Sunday. Praying with and for you for the journey.
