The Serenity Prayer (Modified) for Planner People

WP_20141018_10_44_36_Pro

 Dear Lord,

I lay my Planner and Plans before you this day,

Asking you,

the One who is the author

of the greatest Plan in history-

The One who is The Beginning and End

to look upon my days and plans

and show me

what is needful and what is not.

Allow me the wisdom, sensitivity,

grace and discernment

to know what is good in your eyes

for this day and the week that stretches out before me.

Grant me peace, for the things that will happen that I am not planning,

that I might reflect You, the God of Peace.

Remind me that interruptions are sometimes divine appointments,

and it’s OK to have white-space in my calendar;

Let me not crowd out time for stillness, and quietness, for in these I will be strengthened and able to hear clearly your still, small voice.

Lord, as much as I desire to seize the day, let me more importantly, surrender the day to you, that I may gain that which holds value both now and forever.

May I hold loosely that which is fleeting and cling ever closer to that which is eternal.

All to your glory, Amen

A Practical Tip: Have you ever consecrated your planner? January is a great time to do this, or anytime you get a new planner, but how about each Sunday as we prepare for a new week? How about a planner prayer as you look over that planner in the morning. If you struggle to squeeze prayer into your day, why not start with looking at your planner and praying through what is already there? If you want to read a great post on consecrating your planner for the New Year (or anytime) Check this post by Kim Jackson .

Quotes to Ponder:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3, 5-6

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time;  Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen. ~Reinhold Niebuhr

A  Prayer for  Today:  Lord, sometimes I get distracted or rush ahead of your timing. Keep me from all extremes, as I trust in You. May my plans reflect Your priorities for my unique purpose to glorify You. I ask in Jesus name, Amen.
