How’s Your Heart?

“He who is not contented with what he has,
would not be contented with what he would like to have.”
Socrates

Do you know the condition of your heart?

Have you ever considered it?
I am not talking about the physical health of your heart,
for we know that our lives
consist of more than the physical.
But I ask you to consider your heart.
Do you think you are able to judge the heart of another?
The LORD does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7

Are you aware of the reality that your heart is not to be trusted;
or do you believe the words whispered from the world with it’s empty promises?
I did.
The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?

“I the LORD search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward a man according to his conduct,
according to what his deeds deserve.”
Jeremiah 17:9 & 10
When you are alone, can you be still and at peace?
Jesus said:
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
John 14:1
Do you know that your heart needs to be guarded?
Above all else, guard your heart,
for it is the wellspring of life.
Proverbs 4:23
What is the condition of your heart?
What do your words reveal about the condition of it?
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
Luke 6:45
Do you think that there is something better “out there”, around the corner, in your neighbors house?
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into the world,
and we can take nothing out of it.
But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
1 Timothy 6:6-7
Content: satisfied with what one is or has; not wanting anything else.
Grateful: warmly or deeply appreciative of kindness or benefits received; thankful.
When we find our contentment in the Lord, we discover we have a grateful heart.

If you did not receive ONE more thing from God, one more blessing,
gift, provision, answered prayer-
Could you be satisfied?

Are you satisfied with Him?
Alone.
I pray your answer is Yes.
He is enough.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
Psalm 23:1
‘“The LORD bless you
and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”’
Numbers 6:24-26
Jesus and the Lamb by Katherine Brown
“He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not,
but rejoices for those which he has.”
Epictetus

  1. My heart is buried in the needs of other people… so I OFTEN need to rest in Him, to turn my heart His direction. To rely upon Him as the everydayness tends to interfere with quietness and peace. BUT it does come to pass on a regular basis. For this I am very grateful.
