Bible Possibilities for the New Year
An early Christmas gift from someone who understands my love for Bibles!

Are you looking for a new Bible for the start of the new year? It’s no secret that I love to read different translations, and there are certainly no end to the Bibles in production and available to us here in the USA.

I wanted to do a compilation of the Bibles I have reviewed recently to share in one place here on the blog. If you have a Bible you would like me to review or Bible you have enjoyed using, please share in the comments!

I wrote about the Bible I have been using in 2024. I sometimes use a one year daily reading plan (or Bible) for mornings. I have a number of great study Bibles, and favorite translations I enjoy for deeper dives into God’s Word.

I have already received an early Christmas gift of one translation I did not own- and it was a wonderful surprise as I had decided not to buy a new Bible for the new year. Instead I plan to enjoy one that I received for review: The Journal the Word Bible is the one I am hoping to utilize for my quiet times this year, while incorporating many of the others I have during study times.

This year I am also exploring a different path and pace for my approach of personal Bible study. I am still in the process of creating a “morning curriculum”, but I am happy to report here on the blog once I decide how much framework and flexibility I will have. I don’t want to have to think about this at 4 AM which is my usual quiet time. I just like to show up and meet with the Lord at our usual spot (which does change seasonally). I also like to keep things simple- at least my version of simple! The priority is on showing up, reading scripture, and praying. To me this is what it is to worship the living Lord of all creation in spirit and truth.

I wanted to share a bit about the Christmas Devotional our church is going through right now. My hubby and I are enjoying it and it is taken from (I believe) the Everyday Gospel Bible: Connecting Scripture to All of Life, newly released through Crossway by Paul David Tripp. Crossway gave churches an opportunity to receive (at no cost) these devotional booklets for Advent. A number of folks at our church are now purchasing this Bible, though I have not had a chance to see it yet. Based on the readings, I think it is worth mentioning here for those looking for an approachable reading Bible for their new year. You can see and learn more about it it HERE.

Enough about me! Let’s share some of the Bibles I have been blessed to receive for review. Some I have kept, many I have given away or gifted. Let me know if you have any questions about any of these as I try to use them a bit before reviewing and often after regularly, if I keep them.
