I have not been choosing to do Book Reviews for awhile now, but recently Julie, at Handlebar, reached out to me about reviewing My Holy Bible for Girls, Journal Edition.

Since the Bible is my main interest and journaling my passion, how on earth could I say no?

I couldn’t. At least I didn’t.

So let me tell you what I think about this particular offering from Zondervan to the Bible Reading and Faith Journaling Communities.

Have You Ever Seen a Walking Butterfly? Birthday Bundle Giveaway

PicMonkey Collageccccssssbbb

Yesterday I stated that the best way to celebrate your birthday every day is by giving yourself away. I want to clarify. I’m not talking about selling yourself out, or being taken advantage of in any way- don’t misunderstand.

I am talking about being a willing giver.

We all have something to give, don’t we? Whether time, talent, cash, caring or creativity. None of us is ever truly empty-handed.

Each year as my birthday rolls around, I start to thinking what I would like to have…only to come to the same conclusion, I really need nothing.

Every once in a while you come across something that you know is special, unique and so well made that you don’t ever forget it. I came across Earthbound Journals while perusing my local favorite bookstore. The day I stumbled upon the beautiful handmade journals I came to know, I was in a browse mode and planned to come back for the specific purpose of purchasing one of the journals I did see. As it turned out when I did return, the journals had sold out. They were restocked shortly thereafter but in the interim I made contact with Bill Palizzolo to ask about his amazing journals and explore more of the fine handcrafted creations available. More

Back in April, I attended a wonderful event hosted by the Association of Rhode Island Authors, at the Warwick Public Library here in Rhode Island. I, along with my friend (the fearless leader of my Writer’s Group) Linda, headed out to the Author’s Expo which featured over 35 local Ocean State authors. I conversed with many of the authors there, asked questions, gathered information and just enjoyed the day. To say I am completely in my element chatting with people of every persuasion is like saying dolphins are at home in the ocean. But in a room full of published authors? Oh, call me Flipper and film me! I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this event, and had hoped to write something about it sooner. But, here it is September, and I am just getting to sharing the goodness; such is my life lately.

Why Writers Need One Another (Giveaway)

Pictured: The room we gather together weekly at the Neighborhood Guild, one quiet morning, before the readings begin.

I picked up the phone to make the call shortly before Christmas about a year and a half ago. I left a message and waited to hear back from the Instructor who I would come to know as Linda eventually. It seemed like forever before I received the call back, and I wondered why should I bother? I was happily blogging away on my blog, contributing monthly along with a team of writers to a site dedicated to my genre, enjoying online writing communities AND contentedly discontent with my writing. My muse was getting a bit stir crazy, but other than that writing life seemed good.

Finally the return call came, although it was almost a whole month later and I had forgotten I had even desired to stretch myself out of my little writing cave. My muse and I looked at each other quizzically, meh…would we, should we, venture out of our comfort zone?
