A Sandwich (Day 18)

This prompt is guaranteed to either make you hungry, or cause you to want a sandwich. Take your pick, because there might just be a sandwich for every mood. After a brief scan of sandwich “history” -which I will certainly leave to your own Google affairs- I thought I’d let you explore your own relationship with sandwiches and not so much the technical details of what constitutes one. But as always, there is no way to approach a prompt. And sometimes as with with writing- you start off with a sandwich but end up with a smorgasbord!

Prompt 18- A sandwich for every mood.

Let’s venture down memory lane to start:

Write about your favorite sandwich as a child. When you remember your favorite sandwich, see if you can grab a memory attached with it and write. Here’s some help (if needed):

A favorite lunchbox (to carry your favorite sandwich)

First day of school lunchtime memory

Bag lunch or hot lunch?

Walk to school or bus?

One happy memory from school days…

One funny memory from lunchtime in the cafeteria…

OR

Write all about your favorite sandwiches to eat as an adult. Do you have a sandwich you love? Do your children or grands have a unique sandwich they request you to make?

OR

A romantic sandwich memory – if there is one you can recall!

OR

Write about a sandwich you tried that surprised you. Or one that you make that surprises others. Strange combos of ingredients, or toppings or dips. Whatever it is.

OR

Make a list of every sandwich that you like and see if you can match them to a mood. Baloney (for when I’m full of it) ha!

OR

Write about a funny sandwich story you remember. I promise if you think about it you will have one in your memory banks somewhere!

OR If you are feeling more reflective and if the prompt fits:

Write a bit about the blessings and challenges of being part of the sandwich generation (which refers to middle-aged adults who are caring for both elderly parents and their own children).

Phew. Aren’t you hungry?

Happy Journaling!

Enthusiastically, Dawn
