Go Small and Show Up (Day 17)

I’d like to think I have grown up a bit since my “Go big or go home days”, but I know old attitudes die hard. However I have learned a thing or two in my years here on earth. One is the wisdom in today’s prompt. I hope you will find something in it for yourself!

Prompt 17: Go Small and Show Up

Whenever I read this prompt, my mind automatically dredges up “Go Big or Go Home”. I am not sure if that says something about me, or the culture I grew up in- the general philosophy that permeates the perimeters of time in my life. like a drumbeat in the background I can remember its beat. I can remember a time I believed it, succumbing to its rhythm.

Let’s write! Choose the best option and set your timer. Challenge yourself to add 1-2 minutes to whatever amount of time you have been setting on the timer.

  1. What comes to your mind when you hear: Go Big or Go Home?
  2. What comes to your mind when you hear: go small and show up?
  3. What would it look like for you to go small?
  4. What would it look like for you to show up?
  5. How does going small and showing up challenge you?
  6. How does going big or going home challenge you?

OR Jump off:

In this season of my life going small is…

Yesterday I believed to go big looked like…

When I show up…

Going home right now means…

OR

Write about a time you couldn’t go home, for whatever reason. Or write about a time you ran away from home or wanted to.

OR try one of these:

For me to be successful means I …

For me to be faithful to my calling looks like…

Am I called to be faithful or successful? Is it possible to be both? What matters most? What matters least? Why does it matter to me? Why does it matter at all?

For the brethren:

Respond to the below Scripture from God’s Holy Word:

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. But when I became an adult, I set aside childish ways. For now we see in a mirror indirectly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known. 1 Corinthians 13:11-12

Who am I showing up for today? In this season?

Where is God asking me to show up?

What are the small ways I can be an encourager to another today?
