21 Days of Journaling in November and a Short but TRUE Story for You!

I stopped in to Gansett Goods,  a local gift store here in Narragansett, Rhode Island, with my dear friend Christine who was visiting from Texas last month. Little did I know that after a casual comment about seeing my book displayed alongside journals would lead to…well, my book alongside journals right there in this unique and wonderful gift shop.

After our initial connection and conversation I ordered books – the first time since 2017 and the store owner Jaime and I  got together and had a little display party. AT least that’s what it seemed like. Apparently, she had a vision for my books to be on display by those journals as well!

We adjusted lots of journals, designer candles with matching matches packages, beautiful mugs and…wait for it…PLANNERS, on the display table and chatted about everything from creativity, artists, and business to those deep things that come up in neat ways by God’s design. How cool is that?

Meanwhile, if you are a local Rhode Islander OR one of our many visitors, be sure and stop by her store for unique and beautiful gifts from local artists and all kinds of creatives everywhere. Hey if you’re in the area and buy my book, I’ll run over there and sign it, if you like, and maybe we can chat over coffee at Cool Beans! I’ll fill you in on the best places to go here in the littlest state with the sweetest shores!

Next thing to know … for those who have purchased my book, THANK YOU- and in November I am thanking you with 21 Days of Journaling! I will hold daily readings, prompts and other ridiculous fun in a private Facebook group to help you fire up your  journaling practice.

Sometimes things don’t go as I plan, imagine or intend. But, I know one thing…what’s for me will not pass me. I can trust God for all I see and don’t see, and all that comes to pass and doesn’t. Same goes for you…are you ready to see where a simple daily journaling practice can lead? How writing thoughts can help transform a heart and mind. Discover the power to be found between the end of the pen and the paper…and the surprises that await as we journal for discovery and delight!

It’s so important that we take the time to celebrate life, cultivate the gifts God gives us and share them with one another. This is my way of sharing, once again, a bit of that -as I go and as WE go together!

Gathering poems, and sharing one of my very favorites. Written about  five years ago, straight outta journaling.  Morning journaling times are the best, yes? OK, may this one bless your socks off…NO, make it your feet. May these words bless your feet off!  This one has a definite beat! Enjoy!

How to Start the Day with Pen and Paper

IMG_0083

Today I want to walk you through a morning of journaling from the heart, to the heart of God. Are you ready?

You will need your journal, and a pen. You will need your Bible, and whatever reading plan you follow, or Scripture you are meditating on for today.

You may have a beverage, but usually my coffee grows cold as I set my pen to writing my heart to God.

An Update on Journaling with John and More

May I Have a Word?

It’s the Monday after Easter and I wonder how you, dear reader, friend, fellow sojourner- are doing? Have Easter celebrations left you inspired or do you feel a bit wrung out of faith in the season you find yourself?

Well, I hope you will be encouraged in the knowledge that, regardless of where you think you’re standing, Jesus is able to keep you in all of the seasons you pass through. Our faithful Lord will not leave you high and dry, nor will he hang you out to dry if your faith feels like a big giant fail! He loves you the same whether you’re smiling or full of sadness, whether you’re hopeful, or fearful. Rest in this truth and lean on Him, who is always faithful. Be strengthened in His faithfulness!

In The Beginning: Journaling through John Chapter 1

IMG_1015

Welcome to our first week of Journaling through the Book of John: A Journey for Lent and Beyond ! The purpose of this journey is to linger longer in the presence of the Lord and not create a sprint through the Bible. We don’t want to minimize our relationship with the One who created everything … with a capital E – Everything – to a bullet on our task list, do we? When I look around at the state of the world today, I dare say many people have. I go further and say, I am in danger of doing this daily! When God becomes a bullet on our list of things to do, friend, I fear He has been removed from the place He desires in our hearts and relegated to an unrecognizable blur in our days.
