Welcome to the Journal Keeping Roundup, held to acknowledge and celebrate the 21 Days of Journaling in January.
Thank you to everyone who attempted to join in and journal your own journey and also to those who felt the journey was worth sharing through social media or their own blogs. I hope that you found the prompts helpful.
I have received such amazingly positive feedback.
One of the most wildly wonderful and appreciated statements was by a participant who said they just couldn’t get into one of the prompts I wrote, and I asked if they considered the alternatives, which they had done.
“So I just wrote anyway, on my own prompt.”

I am convinced that this writing the journey is not as hard as some think. I believe it because I write daily and I never run out of things to write about.
Sometimes I write for my heart, my soul…sometimes I write for my mental health. Sometimes I write to clear my head, clarify my thoughts. Sometimes I write to connect with God, others or myself.
Sometimes I write about nothing much. Other times I write about something big. I write about the insignificant and the significant. I write about what happens beneath the surface…beyond myself.
I write despite the fear of being found out or exposed; in light of my own contradictory thinking and maybe even because of it.
I write as surely as I breathe and brush my teeth because it is as needful. As basic to me as the rising from the bed in the morning is the taking pen to paper, fingers to keys. This spilling, exploring, revealing and discovering that is the gift of all those willing to live life awake to the journey.
Friends, inspiration is everywhere to those who are awake!
Stay awake.
Keep writing.
You never know where it will lead.

This journey has shown me how beneficial it is to journal every morning again. My days are so much more focused when I take the time to dump my brain on the pages each morning and the days I’d skip really showed the difference…I didn’t always follow the prompts since some felt more ‘creative writing-ish’ to me rather than journal-y, but most important was this did get me putting pen to paper in a most constructive way that I plan to carry forward through the year ahead. Thanks, my friend! ❤

I find that my morning writing is so key in my creativity…generally speaking…and also just my big investment in my SELF. So important in giving out …the investing in, nourishing ourselves at the start of the day with inspiration, and communication from above. Thanks for joining in the journey, Dawn!

I really loved writing with the prompts; I was one of those that published on my blog – at least most of them! I fell behind, but caught back up except for 2 or 3 that are left to do, but are those that will actually be in my journal instead of on my blog. I find it easier to get started if I have a prompt; but then, there are those days that are so FULL, I have a hard time getting started.
A couple of faves: “Every Picture Tells a Story” and “My Fairy Tale”; both of these are on my blog. I also did one called “Random Story Lines” that I have in a journal; it’s a “story” of sorts using words that are written at the top of the pages of the journal. I did this one based on Day 19 Prompt, The Power of Words.
I also enjoyed the “Literary Love” prompt in which I wrote about my new “love” of C. S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia…and using that literary piece, wrote “God, Aslan and Creation” for Day 13’s 24 Hours with God in History.
The hardest to write, which IS posted on my blog, was Day 10’s One Day Visit; I wrote “Our Last Goodbye” remembering my mother and the fact that she died on Fri. following our last visit the Sun. before that…
Thank you for hosting this awesome prompted “few” days in January!! It has inspired me to WANT to continue writing; and helped to get me going. I don’t post every day, but as I do…it gets easier and easier. I journal (in my hand-written journal) almost every day – but also keep a Gratitude Journal and do other things as well!

Yes, I plan to be there for the next RJD; I have a few entries bookmarked, so I’ll have to choose which one “sits right” with me that day!

Yahoo, I did it!!!! I too added my own prompts when some didn’t work just so I would continue writing and not give up. Thank you Dawn, I’m very glad I did this. 🙂

Dawn I can’ thank you enough for the passion you have to share your writing and planning passion with others. While I a new to blogs and planning groups I find my heart on being part of this journey almost daily. I know I heard God tell my this is the year to write. This will be the year I put what he puts in my heart and in my head on paper. Then I thought what do I have to say that someone else would want to take time out to read? I thought I would not stay focused. I thought I would not have the time. Then I heard, stop thinking and start writing. Keep it simple, just do it.
THEN, I read this blog and realized just write and the writing will eventually evolve. The day I read about boot camp was the same day I had posted a page I am a member of that this was the year to write. I said to be encouraged that I felt there were many who had much to say and had ben prompted to start writing but had not. I mentioned that if God’s way of communicating with us was to leave the written word then surly he would expect his children to do the same. If he is in us and works through us then why not share what he has given us by way of writing. It is a way to share the heart with others.
So Dawn thanks for this post specifically that it is more key to just write. and so I now write. Onward…
