“I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing that I wanted to do.

~Georgia o’ Keefe

I am serving up my Random Journal Day share exceedingly early this week to send out a reminder to my fellow journal keepers and  an invite for those who may be curious to join in. If you keep any kind of journal and dare I say, Planner-you can catch us the first Friday of the month- THIS coming Friday, September 5- through Monday for journal sharing fellowship!

Feel the fear and do it anyway! Susan Jeffers’ book (of the same name) and quote became my own life motto, many years ago, as I struggled to find myself buried beneath the rubble of a painful past and difficult present. I realized that small steps and a little progress could help keep me on the path.

There have been setbacks; fears have changed and reappeared, but eventually ground is gained and the journey continues. I still have fears (bears) I am currently facing:

Trusting Christian community during adversity,  speaking in public, the teenage years and beyond with my daughter.

But onward with God, I go.

In January of this year I participated in The 30 Day Journal Project with artist/author/guide Lisa Sonora and 2999 others. That’s 3000 minus me, right? It was a blast- and it allowed me to write for prompts she gave daily. I also explored the prompts other ways, like collage, paint and scribbles! I think starting the year off with this challenge inspired me to finally make good on  my own, hence 21 Days of Journaling in June.

Update:

This year I’ve really been facing some of those bears fears I wrote about in January head on! I had my first Public Reading with a local Writer’s Group I’ve been enjoying. Each week I have to read a piece of writing in front of the group (about 25+). I did not know that when I signed up, believe me. But it has been fantastic.

Also getting over myself with some really goofy You Tube videos is helping me relax with speaking…who knows what’s next? My own Talk Show. HA! NEVER!

I’m working on my trust issues and well hey, kicking and screaming or not those teen years are here for my hub, daughter and I! God is GOOD! Although some days are better than others, and some days are downright yucky. He remains steadfast.

I have created a You Tube video that does a Flip Through of my 30 Day Journal experience for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

The only thing to fear is fear itself, right?! I get sooooooo afraid. Thanks for always pointing us to God, Dawn. Onward and updward!

My grandma had a Dutch saying about “a bear in the road”…sometimes the bear is only imagined and it’s the fear that is the real obstacle. I’m afraid of soon leading a women’s Sunday School class. But “the fear of the Lord” is the beginning of wisdom…happy journaling, Dawn!

“Bear” in mind this truth: “Love…bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.” I Corinthians 13:7-8 And “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear…” I John 4:18 As we grow in Christ our fears get smaller and smaller and soon fade away as they are overcome by the Love of Christ. We are all skipping along the road of life, and God is taking care of the “lions and tigers and bears, Oh My!” one by one. So thankful to be on this journey with you! This was great, by the way.
