Is small

such a tall

order?

I believe it to be.

For everywhere I look about

None truly long to be.

The young,

to be big

older, and wise

The weak

long to be bigger

in the biggest of eyes.

Is small such a tall order?

I think that one might find

the hardest of battles

begins within the mind-

for what the mind concieves

longs to grow beyond self

 beyond limitations

seeking glory and wealth.

But what if small

was indeed

the greatest call

of all?

Would we long for the place

that bends, bows, and kneels

instead of that

which is eager

to cheat, lie and steal?

Is small such a tall order,

after all?

Yes, small is a tall order. Not many are apt to step in the background to let another shine. Not many are clambering to get a smaller house to use those funds to be generous. It takes giant souls to be at peace and not strive for bigness.
I’m visiting from FMF. I love the poem.

Oh I love this. Your poetry is beautiful. I believe that the smaller we get, the closer we are to God. Have a beautiful weekend my friend.

Well sometimes I feel like ALice, BIG and ALice, SMALL! Vacillating, always, but grateful that He is faithful in teaching me THe Way! And yes, also for His patience with me for when I get to big for my britches! You too, Barbie!
