Sometimes I really do amuse myself. It is usually during these times, I simultaneously embarrass my daughter but, hey, that’s what mothers are for. I remind my 13-year-old that it could be worse. Much worse. At least she isn’t in the local Drugstore with me three aisles over yelling, “Pooh, Pooh, where are you?” No, that was the embarrassment I suffered and survived. She really has it easy. Because, I am actually really funny. And I totally agree with myself on that one.
Today I thought I’d shed some light on how I, Dawn, became Enthusiastically, Dawn. Inquiring minds want to know. At least I say so. So don’t argue. Because, earlier comment, and just look at my picture. You feel yourself agreeing with me, don’t you? Yes, you do. OK. Good. Finally we are on the same page.
In my former life as a Fitness Professional and when I was über enthusiastic- so much so that I made Tigger look slightly lethargic in comparison I stumbled upon a book, which I
permanently borrowed still have love and cherish. The book, The Power of a Positive Woman by Karol Ladd is a keeper. When I read this book, there was something she expressed that just resonated completely with me.
In the introduction she writes: “As God’s children, we have a reason to be enthusiastic about life.” This was something that I embraced and Karol clearly communicated better than I felt I could. Although I have been through challenges and difficulties in my life – haven’t we all- the source of my strength and hope is magnified, in faithfulness, by the One who is faithful in me.
Karol goes on, “We tend to think of enthusiasm as excitement or passion, but its original meaning is “supernatural inspiration or possession by God”. It actually comes from two Greek words, entheos- literally “God within”. By definition, then all Christians should be automatically enthusiastic!”
You know, I am not sure how enthusiastic you are or are not about life. I know that life is about choices. Some we make and some are made for us. Either way, in the end we get to choose our response to all. I choose enthusiasm. I choose to focus on God within. Because, left to my own devices, it ain’t so sweet, friends. But with God within. With the One who possesses me, I am more than a conqueror, more than an overcomer…I am not just Dawn, but Enthusiastically, Dawn!
Here I am, just sharing the random and glorious moments with you…enthusiastically. I hope you’ll stick around. Because I am really funny. Plus, ya know, God. And… I totally agree with myself.
