A Mother’s Prayer

Lord, you promised…

I hold You to your Word,

though I tremble and doubt

before all

I have seen and heard.

Your Holy Spirit sings songs to my soul…

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.

Lord,

as quickly as the sun does rise,

I see my child growing up before

my eyes…

He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

I fear instead of trust,

based on what these eyes do see.

Instead I ask to be anchored,

to live and move in you joyfully.

“All things”,

You said.

All things, I believe.

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,

Lord,

I have seen and heard of your faithfulness,

how you lead each,

one by one

to the light,

out of darkness….

into that bright, morning sun.

Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

Your mercy

I know is new each and every day.

Your beauty,

and splendor

in nature displayed.

Daily, reminds me…

Day in and day out,

I’m awaiting your hand,

as you gently unfold your intricate plan.

Will you recognize me as I

approach your Promised Land?

Weary from fighting,

yet drawn by your grace.

Walking by faith,

I long to look upon your face.

but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.

I will remain true,

what else would I do?

Where would I go?

If my hope would not alone

be anchored in you.

But it is.

By faith.

Wings, Lord, I ask for-

wings that I might soar.

Strength to carry me,

these winds to endure.

They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Hinds’ feet as well,

for me to climb the heights

you say are my reality.

Seated with You,

forever to be.

Oh, I ask you to let me soar-

with those wings

fearlessly.

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Bonnie’s prompt for the week:

“what helps you relax as a mom – what feeds your soul? “

My answer is really right in this poem…relying on Him, His faithfulness, and Word. Trusting that He said…”all things” ARE possible, and believing that which I cannot see, through eyes of faith. This IS the only way I can relax as a mom. Taking time to tell Him my fears, doubts and lack and trusting that despite it all…He will make a way. His word feeds my soul, brings me back to grace, even when it looks like the perfect storm is blowing through my life. Trusting my mom’s heart to Him brings unshakeable peace.

*I wrote this poem a few years back but have  updated it a bit. It still is a prayer that resonates from my core!

Beautiful, Dawn! I love this prayer poem that is bound in truth, thank you. The soul feeding is a perfect picture of how His Words are the bread of life that we need for each day, especially when we gift them to others as you have done in your prayer.
    Blessings and Happy Mother’s Day!

My heart resonates with these beautiful soul longings, Dawn. “Weary from fighting, yet drawn by Your grace,” I, too long to be anchored in Him and to soar on wings, living and moving joyfully. Thank you for speaking my heart. Happy Mother’s Day!
