21 Days of Journaling in November and a Short but TRUE Story for You!

I stopped in to Gansett Goods,  a local gift store here in Narragansett, Rhode Island, with my dear friend Christine who was visiting from Texas last month. Little did I know that after a casual comment about seeing my book displayed alongside journals would lead to…well, my book alongside journals right there in this unique and wonderful gift shop.

After our initial connection and conversation I ordered books – the first time since 2017 and the store owner Jaime and I  got together and had a little display party. AT least that’s what it seemed like. Apparently, she had a vision for my books to be on display by those journals as well!

We adjusted lots of journals, designer candles with matching matches packages, beautiful mugs and…wait for it…PLANNERS, on the display table and chatted about everything from creativity, artists, and business to those deep things that come up in neat ways by God’s design. How cool is that?

Meanwhile, if you are a local Rhode Islander OR one of our many visitors, be sure and stop by her store for unique and beautiful gifts from local artists and all kinds of creatives everywhere. Hey if you’re in the area and buy my book, I’ll run over there and sign it, if you like, and maybe we can chat over coffee at Cool Beans! I’ll fill you in on the best places to go here in the littlest state with the sweetest shores!

Next thing to know … for those who have purchased my book, THANK YOU- and in November I am thanking you with 21 Days of Journaling! I will hold daily readings, prompts and other ridiculous fun in a private Facebook group to help you fire up your  journaling practice.

Sometimes things don’t go as I plan, imagine or intend. But, I know one thing…what’s for me will not pass me. I can trust God for all I see and don’t see, and all that comes to pass and doesn’t. Same goes for you…are you ready to see where a simple daily journaling practice can lead? How writing thoughts can help transform a heart and mind. Discover the power to be found between the end of the pen and the paper…and the surprises that await as we journal for discovery and delight!

It’s so important that we take the time to celebrate life, cultivate the gifts God gives us and share them with one another. This is my way of sharing, once again, a bit of that -as I go and as WE go together!

Meet my therapist and faithful friend, the Journal. As one who carries a journal mostly everywhere and always, saving me a small fortune in psychiatric fees I assure you, I’m hoping to encourage you in your own  journal keeping journey whoever you are and wherever  you are headed. Whether you write for fun, work, or for some other compelling reason or whether you are a creative person looking to overcome your fear of writing or a non creative person trying to tap your creativity, the bottom line is this: You have a wellspring of inspiration within you, I hope I can help you see that which is already there.

The Writing Life (Stranger than Fiction)

This morning my eyes opened and I lay in my bed between the sleep state and the “get your butt out of bed now” phase.

I never hit snooze on the alarm, in fact I usually wake before the alarm ever goes off.

I am a morning person. I am a late night person.

No, I’m not (really) two-faced (except on Facebook) but I actually am both a morning girl and a late night chick…

because a Writer writes when the muse visits otherwise the Writer will not be living a writing life.

How Journal Keeping is like a Black Bunny (21 Days of Journaling in January-Week 1 )

WP_20141225_00_52_21_Pro

Welcome to 21 Days of Journaling in January. So you want to keep a journal, or you are looking for inspiration. Or maybe you just want to find the elusive prompt that will jolt your also elusive muse to get up off it’s butt and offer you a little encouragement. I don’t know all the details of why you have decided to pop in here, but I know you won’t regret it. So let’s start by taking the pressure off.

It’s a new year. I get that. Chances are you are setting the bar high…and I get that. But I want to tell you something from the bottom of my heart, because you might really need to hear it.

Journaling is like a friend that requires nothing of you, but showing up. Journaling is NOT a task master.

Do yourself a favor and don’t make it one.
