NIV Artisan Collection Bible Review

With Spring comes the reminder of renewal, times of refreshment, and rebirth. When I look at the Bibles I received for review with artwork by Kerri King at Kingfolk Co. I feel inspired to dive into the scriptures and sit at the feet of Jesus, listening.

Let’s get into the details and makeup of the Bibles beginning with an overview and building from there. First, each of the NIV Artisan Bibles comes with its own matching cardboard protective slipcover for safe storage as needed. They feel lightweight but sturdy and slide easily over the books. The Bible covers are cloth over board with hand painted decoration of colorful wildflowers, or a beautiful patchwork quilt design. They each have two ribbon markers and inside colored cover page to inscribe your name. Immediatly following we have the table of contents, alphabetical order of the books of the Bible, a short preface to the NIV translation, followed by the beginning of the Old Testament. At the back of the Bible following Revelation’s last page, there is one page for a table of weights and measures, and then ten blank pages designated for notes. These are lightly lined.

I always like to include the weight and measurements, as that can sometimes be a significant consideration. The measurements are 6.6 x 1.9 x 8.4 inches and the weight is  2.75 pounds. The pages are a light cream color, and the format is single column, with 9.5 font. It is important to mention that these Bibles include the Exclusive Zondervan NIV Comfort Print typeface. I personally love this style font and have a few Bibles with it. It is magical, and so easy on the eyes. I generally choose larger fonts, however, with this particular typeface I find the font size amazingly clear and sharp even at a 9.5. Smaller font is needful to make room for the generous margins for journaling or notes. There is ample room in the pages for writing- I measured the journaling column at two inches. The space for journaling is very lightly lined, which makes it perfect for writing notes, prayers, drawings, doodles, and creativity however expressed. The words of Jesus in the New Testament are in red. When you hold this Bible in your hands – its size is comfortable. It feels compact, which is a surprise as I wouldn’t say it’s truly compact, but it feels carriable. But it may be one to keep in a favorite quiet time space, either way. this Bible is beautiful, and one that is both practical, and beautiful – my two favorite features- for those seeking a Journaling Bible.

The stunning Bibles I am reviewing today, are perfect for a Spring refresh and would make a great grad or birthday gift. I gifted one of mine to my bestie for her 55th birthday!

I want to thank the team at Zondervan (Serena and Danielle- thank you for your patience) for sending me these beautifully crafted Bibles for review.

Enthusiastically, Dawn
