Everyday Letters

Everyday Letters

A fresh from the morning (and journal) poem as we continue walking through Holy Week. It’s National Poetry Month, and I’m going with the flow.

The quote that I’ve been pondering and in some ways prompted this poem today:

The importance of reading the Bible is not reading, but fellowship with the Author. – A.W. Tozer

Everyday Letters

Every day I write a letter to God
long hand as I listen, and seek

Everyday I write a letter to God
asking what it is to be one who is meek

Everyday I write a letter to God
trusting that he hears my prayers in ink

Everyday I write a letter to God
connecting to my eternal link

Everyday I write a letter to God
with undivided attention

Everyday I write a letter to God
many names I do make mention

Everyday I write a letter to God
In spirit and truth, my intention

Every day I write a letter to God
awaiting the still, small voice

Everyday I write a letter to God
in whose holiness I rejoice

Everyday I write a letter to God
shielded from competing noise

Everyday I write a letter to God
receiving my daily bread

Everyday I write a letter to God
grateful at day’s end as I lay upon my bed.

Thank you for reading.

Enthusiastically, Dawn
