Welcome to Summer Journal. If you are new – explore more HERE. If you have been trying to keep up, how are you doing with the prompts? Let me know in the comments!
Meanwhile this prompt is a world of inspiration at your fingertips, once you discover your jumping off place. So, let’s dive in, and get you to your jumping off platform.
Happy July 1! It’s hard to believe this is the mid-way point of the year. Yet here we are. Today’s prompt requires you to do a little research. Don’t panic, I think you will enjoy the journey, so give it a whirl, and let’s remember, we want to get to our prompt without getting sidetracked.
Option 1: You can head over to one of the sights I will share for some history choices once I explain your mission. Your mission – if you choose to accept it is to head over to The History Place, Historic UK or This Day in History: July. Or you can just google historical world events in July. Once you do this read through the events, until you find one that makes your heart skip a beat, or just pushes your curiosity button. Once you choose the person, topic, or event you want to jump off and write about, set your timer for 5-7 minutes and write whatever your response is. Your heart response is fine, this is not a graded paper, just a set your pen to express your thoughts. Clarification comes as we write, or it is revealed. Either way, keep the pen moving before researching more. That will distract you from writing. The short history bites are enough to allow a jump off point. Write now, research more after. July is chock full of interesting jump off events to journal about.
Option 2: You have a Time/History Dial. You can visit anyplace in the world at any time in history for 7 full days. You can pack one bag. Where will you go, what period of time, and what will you pack? What do you hope to accomplish? See? Experience?
Option 3: Create a mind map of one of the areas of history that caught your attention. Make connections to where your interest in the topic of focus is rooted- seek the personal connections which link to your heart or experience now or in the past. Then write in response to what you learn.
Option 4: Write about one thing in July that you are passionate about for better or worse! Whether from your past or present. This one is a bit about your own history of July’s past. Take a look back at those memory archives and write about what you see.
Happy Journaling!
Enthusiastically, Dawn
