You are Invited to Unplug and Journal this Summer

Writing time in Summer?

YES! PLEASE! Let me tell you all the reasons why…

Why am I inviting you to embark on a 21 day mini-writing adventure with me, during what is a collective time of outdoor activity, rest and recreation for most people?

Because I guarantee this summertime adventure will ADD goodness to your schedule and richness to your days.

Oh and YES, I am inviting you right now. So here is the not-so brief rundown of what I am thinking as I drag you to the shelf of journals, and notebooks on that hidden shelf in your closet. Oh, wait- that might be mine. But either way, I bet you have a notebook, or journal ready in the wings that someone gifted you or you bought with the best of intentions…am I right?

Well, let me help you use that blank book to the max! Give me a listen, will you?

These prompts will help you to maximize your reflective capacity during the Summer while simultaneously helping you capture moments of joy. Your Summer journal will be a time capsule gift to your future self. A treasure of memories and simple reminders of the grace found in common days.

Oh, one more thing. The prompts will be short. No long blog posts. But also they will offer options to allow you optimal flexibility for creativity. In a brief enough amount of time, perfect for the lovely but short season.

The 21 days will be spread across June and July. The scheduled posts will allow you to pop in and view the journal prompts on the dates as they go live. My goal is to help you unplug, not stare at a screen more. But since this website is the vehicle through which I can offer this creative writing adventure, then we will have to do what we must do!

I am excited to invite you- whether you have joined in before or are new. Some of you will recall the first time I offered a journaling adventure after drafting 21 prompts in my journal. Many joined in and journaled for the first time, or discovered anew that journaling could be a delight instead of a duty. I eventually created a book from those prompts. And there will be a bit of an incorporation of those prompts for some of you to revisit as an option!

So, would you like an opportunity to refresh your creativity this Summer? Would you like to renew your spirit, or reboot your mental capacity? This is a great way to find that restoration of mind, body, spirit and soul as you enjoy the days the season brings.

I believe- STILL (after filling many journals)— journaling is the greatest, most versatile tool for developing all areas of life. Well, it has the potential to be. You don’t need much. A notebook and a pen. You can go fancy or plain. You can write a sentence, a paragraph, one page or ten, and any amount in between. Journaling is like your favorite comfy shoes. You just slide your feet in and walk around in comfort. That’s what your journal can be like. That comfortable place, you slip in and allow yourself some being time. A bit of margin in the page of your day. Funny how that works on the page, but also in our lives.

Let me help you find some margin in your days, to fill a page and find the delight a Summer Journal can be.

First things first- I will be setting up the page as in the past. You will find the prompts there as we did in January and for Fall. The page will be called Summer Journal.

Secondly, use what you have when possible. We will be working through 21 prompts. This can be on a scale as small or large as you want based on your interest, time and creative capacity!

Lastly, here is a list of the dates for your planning convenience:

June 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 26.

July 1, 3, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 22, 24, 26, 29, 31.

As posts go live, they will be linked on the Summer Journal Page! As always, I hope to get you thinking of journaling as an accompaniment to your days, not a drudgery, one more to-do or weird thing! Journaling IS practical, and joyful, and helpful in so many wonderful ways. I hope I can show that (or remind you).

I want to add an apology for those who have tried to comment but have had frustrating experiences. I find this same problm with WordPress when I visit other blogs. It’s one of the reasons I read without comment often. If you want to reach out with a question, please feel free to contact me at dawn.paoletta@gmail.com.

Thank you for being here- I am looking forward to this next writing excursion with you!

Enthusiastically, Dawn
