The Tiny Theologians Bible Review

Today’s review is one I am excited to share. A short while ago I received a children’s Bible to look at and share. The Tiny Theologians Bible was created for children as a resource that would not only help them grow spiritually, but would help them understand the Bible better. So maybe it would grow them into better readers, and better appliers of what they have read because of their better understanding. Whew! Let’s look into what makes this new Bible one that is helpful for kids to use during their formative years, and the way it prepares them to understand how to use their Bible. The Tiny Theologian Bible has the power to enhance their future Bible study habits for practical lifelong learning.

Amy Gannett is the creator of The Tiny Theologians Bible– also many teaching tools designed to support theologically sound learning (books, workbooks, learning cards) for children and families. Her aim has been helping kids know and love God through His Word. Amy felt there was a gap with children’s early attempts at reading the Bible and their ability to grasp what they were reading. ( I think there are adults still suffering from these early efforts and failures!). Amy wanted to create a Bible to help close this gap. I, along with many others are glad she did!

This Bible is right for kids ages 6–10, and is a full-text Bible easy-to-read NIrV translation in 9 point font. The built-in teaching tools facilitate biblical literacy without overwhelming young readers. Here are some details (from the website) on key features.

  • Biblical Genres on Every Page – Kids quickly learn whether they’re reading history, poetry, prophecy, or letters
  • Book Introductions – Simple explanations of who wrote each book, what it’s about, and what God is doing in it
  • Who Is God? – Helps kids see God’s character revealed throughout Scripture
  • Pointing Us to Jesus – Shows how every part of the Bible leads to Christ
  • My God Is… – Teaches God’s attributes in a kid-friendly way
    • Imitable attributes in blue
    • God-only attributes in purple
  • Names of God – Helps kids learn who God is through the names he reveals in Scripture
  • Basics of Faith: Q&A – Answers common questions with Scripture-based truth
  • Glossary & Maps – Support comprehension and biblical context
  • Exclusive Zondervan NIrV Comfort Print® – Easy on young eyes
  • Publisher-Zondervan (2026)

If you are looking for a first full text Bible for kid that will help them to learn how to approach scripture well, this is a great option. I have been using this with my Sunday school students and think that is would be perfect for children to explore foundational truths for themselves (with support, of course). But depending on the age, I think this Bible provides opportunity for discovering many great theological truths using the tools and features available, such as the Q&A, Names of God, and Book Introductions, while learning to seek understanding in their own time and studies of scripture .

One of the features I have found that kids appreciate is the colorful sections. Interestingly each of the section colors is a Biblical genre. I think this is helpful as we try to help kids understand the complete narrative of scripture given through different styles of writing.

  • Red=Law & Covenant
  • Purple=Old Testament History
  • Light Blue=Wisdom & Poetry
  • Purple=Prophecy
  • Light Green=Gospels & Acts
  • Teal=Letters & Revelation

There is a pale blue colored Glossary in the back for kids to look up meanings of words and terms. Key Verses are featured to encourage memorization of scripture. Paul’s Missionary Journeys have a focus to help kids understand the advancement of the gospel through his travels.

I am loving using this Bible as I mentioned with my Sunday School kiddos. I have to bring it all the time to class now, as they expect to see it and love when I let them read from it!
