SJP 13 Mid-Year Check In Part One: Planner

Once upon a time there was a girl who lived in the smallest state in the whole United States. She had a little planner, and one thing I do know, is everywhere that she went, that planner was sure to go…

Oh, heck, that planner girl she finally kicked the planner habit- or at least the planner hopping habit (formerly known as planner tramp syndrome). She settled down, and is living quietly (relatively speaking) ever after, with her one (-ish) planner for the year (technically two, possibly three, but who’s counting?) and is here to give you a mid-year planner peek into exactly what she’s (um, that would be me) been up to! OH, also this will be your chance to CHECK IN on your “plannerly” habits. If you don’t understand this complete jibberish…I promise you will have plenty to write in your journal!

For today’s prompt you can choose to jump off of one, or work through them consecutively:

Option 1: How do you plan your days? However you do it, consider it and respond with a description of exactly what, how, where, when and why you choose to do whatever it is you do.

Option 2: If you use a planner, calendar, notebook or app, to attend to your schedule, appointments etc. take some time to consider how it is working for you. Are there any areas of daily planning where you could improve or change? Think it out with pen and paper.

Option 3: Respond to the poem The Summer Day by Mary Oliver

  1. View and read the poem HERE (Library of Congress link of to poem) You won’t regret it!
  2. Respond to the poem in your journal.

Option 4: If you are in a big hurry! Respond to the Mary Oliver quote, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

My monthly purse -sized planner, B6 slim Stalogy notebook/journal, Aura Estelle Undated Planner, Chic Sparrow cover, Lamy pens.

For my Planner Peeps (inquiring minds want to know): I know you think I have fallen off the edge of the earth, but I haven’t. Only mostly off Social Media. Here is what I have been using this year for planning:

  • Monthly Purse Size Planner – I keep all my scheduled appointments in here, and keep it in my purse. (Bought on Amazon)
  • Aura Estelle X Annie Plans Daily Classic B6 Undated planner. I keep this with me also in purse. This helps me on the go, for notes, and things I can’t forget, as I go about my day. The cover varies, I am currently using my B6 Chic Sparrow Black Beauty Deluxe Traveler’s Notebook.
  • Stalogy B6 Slim Notebook- technically this is my journal however, I do like to sketch out a weekly overview as I plan details of my week, such as writing time, meetings, work, ministry commitments, and gym time. It’s a birds eye view, but I enjoy doing it and thinking through the week (and praying through it). It’s a relaxing thing I do most Saturday mornings.

Thanks for being here…anyone up for reviving Planner Bootcamp 2025 with me?

Enthusiastically, Dawn
