The initial conversation was promising, she thought they were on the same page and in many ways they were. She excused some of the initial suspicions. She was cautiously optimistic.
It began like a slow swallowing of poison or an elephant in the room that no-one wants to discuss.

Weaknesses and strengths were discussed.
First, they said she was not meeting up to the standard expected.
What standard was that? Oh, ‘So and so’ did it this way.
So and So being a He.
She accepted the criticisms and adjusted.
But it started to become clear to her… it wasn’t her.

There was false humility.
The kind that is deceitful and evasive.
The kind of humility that avoids looking you in the eye, because it is not really looking out for your best interest or anyone else’s but only it’s own.
It is everywhere these days.
It parades in the street as freedom of speech and spits at the feet of truth. I have seen it growling and prowling as it demands its rights while devouring the rights of others. I have seen it cunningly position itself to cause division and strife while promoting lies. I have witnessed the robbing of that which is to be earned but is given freely, and never appreciated…at all. Entitlement swings wild and strangles those in it’s path, but takes down many more in the process.
I know it well…
