Jesus Stories

Robert Zund, Road to Emmaus, 1877

Three days after the crucifixion of Jesus, the disciples were scattered. In the fall out that followed a pair walked along the road processing in their minds the reality they knew, and the rumours they heard about an empty tomb.

They meet up with what appears to be a stranger who walks with them, and questions why they are so distressed. The distraught followers of Jesus explain to the stranger the happenings of the past few days, stunned that he is not aware.

Many know the story found in Luke 24:13-35. How Jesus explained to them everything from Moses to the Prophets – all the things that pointed and added up to the sum total of Jesus, the one walking with them.

When Jesus is invited to join them for a meal he finally reveals himself- as he breaks the bread. Amazed, their eyes opened, finally- just in time for Jesus to vanish…before their now seeing eyes!

They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32

A burning heart is a worthy offering for our Lord. It’s better than the heart that has grown, cold, complacent or hard. Yes, a burning heart that hears Jesus, hears God’s voice and refuses to let life’s circumstances extinguish the fire, or harden into cold stone is what we want. What better way to stoke the fire in our hearts for our Lord, than to remember, tell and dwell in our Jesus stories.

I propose we spend the next 40 or so days leading up to Easter, remembering our personal stories of Jesus revelations. The times he has faithfully come alongside and revealed something to us. Our precious memories of Jesus will stoke the fires of our heart for him, and each other.

Will you join in and REMEMBER, TELL and DWELL on those stories, by writing them and sharing them? Whether you do it in your journal, or on your personal blog let’s be about sharing our Jesus stories, let’s set the world on fire with the love of Christ through our own memories of our Saviour who walks with us as , opens our eyes to HIs Grace and Truth as we go.

If you share on your blog or social media platform be sure and let me know! However one of the reasons I changed MY Jesus Stories to just Jesus Stories was to make this a community opportunity for anyone who may want to join me!
