Inspiration for Finding Your One Word for 2026…
It’s that time of year when resolutions begin to surface in our subconscious, and when intentions for the new year are sought and set. But for some of us, one word suffices to serve us optimally all year long. If you have not yet joined this journey, I would love to help you see its wisdom and encourage you to begin your own one-word journey.
I have been choosing one word since 2012. It has been a life-changing, never-disappointing adventure, and a journey in self-discovery. It has been one of the best commitments I have made and kept. Several platforms encourage this One Word journey. I first heard about it at a fitness conference I attended, and the following year from fellow bloggers in my early writing days. I jumped in with my first word, which I accepted- like a Mission Impossible moment, which is to say, I let the Lord guide me (with great resistance) to the word I needed, but would not have chosen for myself in a billion years.
So what I would like to do is share with you bits of this journey, which I have been writing about and sharing since that very first “kicking and screaming” year. I will be looking back at my prior posts (2012-2025) and bringing you the inner workings and honest ramblings of one who has walked with One Word and The Word hand in hand for the past 15 years. I look forward to looking back with you and refreshing my own love for the lessons learned and the faithfulness I have experienced as I have allowed God to have full reign of this endeavor. Choosing one word for the year is a good thing, but allowing God to reveal the word you most need is invigorating to a life lived by faith. It has been for me, and I hope by sharing these blog posts, you will be encouraged to go deeper with God and allow Him to help you uncover the One Word that will best serve His will for you this coming year!
