A Poem for these days after Christmas while we wait. This one is hot off the press tonight. It may need a bit more revision- but I pray it blesses you as it is! I started off one way but once again, was redirected as I wrote. God is so good.
Between the Night After Christmas and a New Year
It’s the night after Christmas and all through this house,
there’s a mess to be cleaned, though not by a mouse
The gifts have been given, we hope well received,
the food we’ve ingested is not to be believed!
Another year gone, as we quietly wait,
for the clock to strike midnight, and contemplate
the past year we’ve been given and all that it means
the places we’ve been, the people we’ve seen.
Now the manger still sits, a babe still has come-
should we not still consider all that has been done
through this miracle birth, the animals saw
that cold, dark night, from the dirt-pressed floor
We are full and warm, and safe and clean,
surrounded by comforts that some have not seen
Thankful- so we say, yet still we complain
And grumble over those we surely disdain
And there He lays, the hay still warm
by His heavenly flesh, now earthly born
And would you despise this child, your King
Who has come to give you everything
Amidst the wrappings, all undone,
the packaging torn, yet still-The Son,
has come to show that earthly
things can never bring what Heaven
sent on angel’s wings, from God above
who to earth did come- to give the gift
Of His eternal love.
Thank you for reading. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and may we keep the hope that is Christmas in our hearts all year. Amen.
Enthusiastically, Dawn

I was already moving on leaving Christmas behind, checking it off the final yearly check list. Where is is the merry, the goodwill, and the hope. I have plenty of cookies and leftovers, none that I even want to be eating. I dread and yet look forward to a new year. That time in the middle between Christmas and new years I think of the waste of the past year and the hope of a new, but will I use the time for better things?

It is our hope and prayer, and only by His grace can it be accomplished. I pray it is so for you , my friend.
