Sometimes/Places (Day 16)
Webb Lake, Weld, Maine- A place that still holds me.

Welcome to Day 16 of Fall Into Journaling at Enthusiastically, Dawn. If you are new, head over to this page for all the details as well as the prompts we’ve responded to so far.

For those of you who have been journaling along, I encourage you to keep on the path. We are in the homestretch, and momentum will carry you through in the best way if you are hoping to build a regular journaling practice into your day. Hang in there, Remember a timer reminds you that this is not an endless timesuck. Give yourself the gift of listening, of stillness, of quietness. You won’t regret sitting for five minutes, though it may also create within you a desire for more of the same. I encourage you to take the time. It will be a small drop in the ocean of your day. But one well spent, and never regretted.

Sometimes We Find Places That Hold Us (Day 16)

I have to tell you this prompt is by far the one that keeps drawing me back and into its subtle beauty. It provokes the imagination, and pulls on the deep places within surfacing many memories the longer its pondered. Let me know if you find that to be true for you. I think it also evokes a reflective trajectory. All this to say…I think this is my favorite prompt of these 21 days (so far). Whether it will hold that place for the duration, well, only the pen knows! Let’s see what will be, shall we?

Originally when I looked at this prompt I came at it head on. What jumped out was the theme of Places that Hold Us. So we will start there. Write about one place that holds you. Do you have a place that “holds you”. What a concept! At different times in life, different places can hold us. What comes to your mind when you think about a place in time that still holds you? What memories surface when you read and think about places that have held you. Places of meaning and memory, or happiness, sadness, hope and love. I think all of these can be found in places that hold us!

Springboards to start:

  1. A place that holds me…
  2. Some places that hold me have been…
  3. A place I visited that still holds me …
  4. A place from the past that holds me…
  5. A place I want to hold onto…
  6. Is there one place that holds me?
  7. There’s a place I want to hold me…

OR

Take the quote by a different route: Sometimes We Find – Write off of this beginning part of the whole.

  1. Sometimes I find…
  2. I am a seeker…
  3. Today I am hoping to find…
  4. One thing I’ve lost is…

OR

Write a prayer or poem in response to this prompt.

Happy Journaling!
