Let’s talk laundry. SO many ways we can go with this prompt…from the domestic, to the downright dirty realities of our clothing industry. But let’s keep it up close and personal. Today’s prompt may not lead you beside the still water you desire, but it may give you a thing or two to smile about, and that’s better than a basketful of unmatched socks on New Year’s Eve, right?

Prompt 11: Laundry Quandaries
Choose from any of the cycles…or prompts below and get ready to discover something new today you didn’t know you knew.
Pre-Soak: Write about a time you had a laundry misadventure.
Wash Cycle: Come clean on what you think about this domestic duty. Love it, hate it, we all need to do it. But we don’t often think about it or maybe you do? My mom LOVED to do laundry and iron. That gene was not passed down to me. But, go ahead and tell your journal the good, bad, ugly and lovely about your laundry life. Because like it or not, the odds are, you have one.
Add Softener: Write one memory you have that is associated with growing up and laundry. What can you remember about laundry at different ages (as applicable).
Spin: Write about one thing in your life you need to put a new spin on. Does not have to be laundry related. But if the clothes fit then…you can spin ’em!
Dryer or Hang Dry: Take a minute here…Write your “laundry list” of all the people you need to forgive instead of hang out to dry. Yup, I went there. If this is your prompt. You’re welcome.
Fold/Put Away: Write about a favorite clothes item that you no longer have. What happened to it? Journal the description of the clothing, why you loved it and what was its fate.
Seriously, you should have a plethora of possibilities to write about in that pile of dirty clothes. So much of our lives are spent on these mundane tasks, but there is a world of memory entangled in them!
Happy Journaling!
Enthusiastically, Dawn
