At the Beach (Day 2)
I took this photo on 2/26/22 (3:22PM) at Narragansett Town Beach.

I live close to the ocean. I mean really close. Close enough to hear the waves of the angry surf in the quietness of Winter. Close enough to go every day if I desire. Living in The Ocean State, one finds their way to the beach at some point in their life. I appreciate this more now than ever before. I have a lifetime of beach memories, from Rhode Island to Maine, to Florida and California. It’s interesting how our lands are surrounded by oceans. But this little state, my home, has given me the gift of living on the Atlantic coastline, and the opportunity to observe the beauty and savagery that co-exist on a daily basis.

Grab your pen, and get ready to write, today we are taking the scenic route…

Prompt 2: at the beach

Do you have any childhood memories of visiting the beach? What beach was it? What can you remember? Choose one specific memory and write about it in detail. Try to write every detail you can recall, whether list, or scribble. Don’t worry about being neat, but catch the thoughts as they come and let them stare back at you from the page. Write as much as you can within the designated time you choose.

OR

Write a poem, or haiku about the beach or a bspecific beach experience or memory.

OR

Jump off from one of these prompts:

>At the beach …

>One thing I love about the ocean …

>Write about favorite beach, why is it a favorite and what makes it unique?

>Something about the beach (or ocean) that disturbs me is…

Or ponder and let these quotes lead you: Quick Tip: Sometimes it’s the quote you DON’T like that is the best writing prompt! The one you want to wrestle or shout at could be the one that leads to surprising places! If you find one that instigates a response, that might be the place to start. It’s good practice to write and think clearly about what you disagree or take issue with- Have at it!

I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me. Isaac Newton

How inappropriate to call this planet Earth when it is quite clearly Ocean. Arthur C. Clarke

Ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing, only a signal shown, and a distant voice in the darkness; So on the ocean of life, we pass and speak one another, only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering. Saint Augustine

Shy is the oyster, fervent is the clam, peaceful is the ocean floor rocked by the sands of time. Bradley Chicho

We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch – we are going back from whence we came. John F. Kennedy

Some feel as though the world is their oyster; others feel as though they were the oyster itself, plucked from the ocean, cracked open, and robbed of all that is precious to them. Joseph B. Wirthlin

I had fun using BrainyQuote for our excellent quote options today.

I am so thrilled you decided to design another prompt series. I’ve missed it. I loved the 200 Prompt series you created originally on IG. I was in such a different place then. I would use your prompts in class to try and hook students. They loved them. I also introduced them to your IG. I’ve retired from teaching, but am so busy with my children it is doesn’t feel like I’ve retired. I always feel like a treat has arrived when you post on your site. The next 21 days will be like Christmas every morning
