The Danger of Should: Why Positive Thinking May Not be the Answer

A preliminary scrolling of Instagram started my day, between the morning meandering that makes up the daily routine of my life and sitting down for my first cup of coffee, I find myself under assault.

The word, should, catches my attention.

I haven’t opened my Bible yet, but fortunately I must have slept in my spiritual armor. Or maybe after years of wearing it, it finally has become my permanent garb. Or maybe it’s just that I open my Bible enough so when I am confronted with philosophies disguised as wisdom in the form of memes, posts, advertising and free offers, I recognize the not so subtle brain washing of an unseen enemy who plays for keeps.

Have I gotten your attention yet?

It is when the day is dark

the need for Light becomes great

Within the darkest night,

lies the greatest possibility for

brightest light

Now is the time for your shining…

Now is the time to shine,

to fly, to burn… to light up this current darkness

with the hope of Eternal Light

When The Laundry Preaches a Sermon

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

Life isn’t all about laundry.

Think about that statement for a minute. Say it out loud. Let it roll across your lips as you stand surveying the piles of unsorted colors and whites surrounding you.

But, sometimes it feels like life is exactly  one endless laundry marathon, doesn’t it?

A meditation from my morning Bible reading …I actually wrote this earlier this week as I read and pondered  1 John- one of my favorite letters in the New Testament.

May you be blessed as you read my offering and as you also seek the Living Word today.

I Am Shame-Free (The Victory of Calvary)

We must never stop looking to Jesus. He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete. He suffered death on a cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing because of the joy he could see waiting for him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne. Think about Jesus. He patiently endured the angry insults that sinful people were shouting at him. Think about him so that you won’t get discouraged and stop trying. (Easy-to-Read Version) *ERV @BibleGateway
