May you know that He loves you with an everlasting love, today and always. May you know it, believe it, receive it and let it transform you…because it will. If only you believe…

Rescued From The Curse By His Grace Moment by Moment

Standing at the kitchen counter, sleep still permeating my eyes I feel for the coffee pot, prepare the pot, as I have done so many mornings. I squint adjusting to the light well aware I’m being stalked by the morning pet parade. Three sets of eyes are staring up at me. I pour dry food into the two cat bowls, grab the dog’s leash from the coat rack and head to the door with a prancing Reindeer. Once we are out into February’s chilly morning darkness and at the canine appointed place of business, I stare up at the dark blue sky over us. I gaze at the stars. Standing in the starlight, surrounded by winter’s stillness I’m startled awake as I take inventory of my heart.

The Clock and The Calendar

This week I have been reading the Book of Ephesians. In chapter 2, Paul paints with his words an incredible image of Christ and the riches we have in Him , and I never get tired of reading them.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,  in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.  All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,  made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,  in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

-Ephesians 2: 1-7 (NIV)

There are so many riches in these verses, but God has a way of bringing bringing things to light through a number of means. At least He does this in my life! As I attended a Bible Study this week, a lovely woman spoke up and shared about Jesus lifting her out of the pit, with excitement. I affirmed He did likewise for me.

My Testimony in Poem (#iamapoet)

Some of the journals from this transformational year.

One night last week I decided to let my Facebook followers choose which journal to share (from three) for Random Journal Day. Cathie H. chose the “Heart” journal from the group pictured above. As I began to thumb through the pages I was overwhelmed with the perfection of this choice and how important it is to be able to look back on our written journals to see clearly what we forget. My One Word for this year is Redeemed. I mean, really it could be my word every year, right? But, this year I knew God was calling me to walk in it more boldly and confidently than ever before. Now as I look back on this journal, I see all the seeds…of His will and purpose right there written on those pages when He first opened my eyes.
Today, I am sharing with you what is one of the earliest poems I wrote after Jesus Christ became my One and Only Hope, Savior, Lord. This journal is full of an excited girl who discovered a God who was not only real, but able to clearly communicate with her. This record of my “bowled over” response, in my awakening to His grace, love, mercy and truth, is a gift to me to re-read after years of enculturation into the churched communities I have travelled. If ever there was evidence that God is found by those who are unchurched…this is it! Friends, I was an opinionated, vocal, religiously opposed, independent, liberal-minded person. BUT, God met me where I was….and brought me to where I am today. Which is exactly the same– but with a completely opposite view-point as before! You know, I never forget that…I know what it is like to live without the mind of Christ, and then be transformed by His grace. It is easy to keep it real when you remember.

Grace for All Seasons (End of Summer Reflections)

Narragansett Town Beach - as it looked on the morning of September 1, 2015 - beautiful in every season!

Narragansett Town Beach – as it looked on the morning of September 1, 2015 – beautiful in every season!

Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5

Here we are, friends. Day Two, September. Seasonal change is upon us once more, and as sure as the tides ebb and flow each day, we are all adjusting our rutters as we ready ourselves for the days ahead. Can’t you just feel the change in the air? Though the Summer temperatures linger a bit, and we will enjoy them as they are given, the thrust to batten down the hatches and head out full speed ahead into the final four months of 2015 is a palpable energy. The return of routines, activities and  increased momentum will continue to challenge each one of us to order our days with careful consideration in light of the season we are in, and the seasons we’ve yet to know.

So many wonderful things vie for our attention, don’t they? So many opinions, opportunities, possibilities. But, the question remains. What is calling you from the quietness of your being now? What season are YOU in? Forget that Fall is slowly preparing for its debut, and I saw two leaves fall, whimsically before me,  as I drove toward the beach this morning. More
