Our Momentary Troubles (When Life Feels Messy)

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

James 1:12

I walk the the beach on a cloudy morning, noting the beauty and changes as beach season makes its debut. The sand is combed, less rocks under my feet, and the new lifeguard chairs stand stark awaiting the bustle of Summer days. Morning acknowledges few walking the shoreline, I can walk and talk aloud and look like a crazy person to none but the gulls. For the most part they are too busy to bother themselves with the solo conversationalist infringing on their breakfast buffet. I have a history of seeking Him by the Sea. Not that He won’t meet me anywhere. But here, at the edge of the unknown, water meeting sand, is where we have serious quality time. He presses me with truths, surrounds me with beauty (and tragedy – more on that in a moment), staggers my senses with the work of His hands. The surf tends to be a place God does a reality check with me. He tweaks my perspective. Not that He can’t do it anywhere. But somehow, He and I meet there and I am alive with the mysteries of eternity and wisdom that stretches from the depths of the sea to the expanse of the sky. Just me. And Him. On the sand.

Reading Romans in Reverse and Redirection by God

Here we are at the start of a fresh new week. We are journaling our journey with Jesus and this is a check in point along the path. How goes your journey? Let’s sit for a moment, take a break and check in.

Let’s think about some of the things we are hoping to accomplish on our endeavor. It’s important to remind ourselves of why we are doing what we aare doing, especially for those moments when we lose sight of our goal which is increasing our intimacy with Jesus, NOT checking another To Do off our list! So as a reminder, perhaps today, or sometimes this week, it would behhove us to write out our purpose for joining on the journey at all! Here are some of the possibilities, listed also on the Main Page:  Develop a consistent journaling habit which inspires all you do;  Discover the benefits of journaling as communication with the Lord;  Grow in intimacy in our personal  relationship with Jesus;  Engage scripture, and scriptural writings- as we seek transparency before the Lord on the pages of our journals, connecting with our own unique voices and God’s affirming presence; and lastly this: strengthen our faith and confidence in God- as we offer our words to Him, and as we learn to sit quietly before Him, listening, available. This sums up well the ways: “We will practice stillness. We will meditate on His truth. We will seek to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior by basking in His loving presence with pen and paper.”

I will share a bit about my week of Journaling my own journey with Jesus, and hopefully that will encourage you along your own journey. I have made a page where all the posts for Journaling Your Journey [with Jesus] can be found. When you hover over the JYJWJ which shows while hovering the mouse over Journaling, the Post page will appear. Here it is right here for easy access if you are new to the journey OR just want a quick peek now. And here: All Posts for Journaling Your Journey [with Jesus]

Meanwhile about last week…

Ode To The Master Planner

origin_2798043140 (1)

During October we will break from the weekly format of our Planning with Purpose Series somewhat on Sunday to allow for a worshipful, meditative or devotional writing.

You can also use the opportunity to catch up on the posts you may have missed for the week.

I have been praying with Moms in Prayer since 2008 and one of the favorite Names of God I’ve discovered through this weekly prayer ministry is God as The Master Planner.  As one who adores her planner, and all things which enthrone planning it is no wonder I like the reminder and affirmation of my Father’s  ultimate authority which is magnified in this attribute/title. .

Today I have a wonderful gift to share that came to me during my Quiet Time with God yesterday.

Initially I titled it “Being with God” as I was doing just that, but then I decided I wanted it to be an ode to the Name which keeps this planner chick in check!

It is both a poem of affirmation, and a snapshot of my morning as I sat cross-legged in my comfy green chair, while the family still slept, Bible and journal in lap.

May your Sunday be blessed as you seek your Master Planner today.
