The God of Interruptions and Everyday Distractions

I sat at the table preparing for my quiet time.

I had already been willingly displaced from the Living Room  by a family member.

I had poured fresh coffee, Bible laid out on the table before me and my journal and pen handy. There are mornings when these tools facilitate well intimacy with God for me, helping  reign in my wild mind, allowing me focus for prayer, renewal and instruction.

Then there are days, when I feel like a seashell rolling to and fro in the morning surf.

I can’t get settled, focused and am prone to distraction.

Special thanks to Editor Deb Wolf for the great image she added to the Blog post I wrote- and for putting up with my everyday distracted self! Grateful for you, Deb!

Recently, we have encountered some computer problems. Our computer started doing strange things and ultimately needed to be brought in for a complete overhaul. It started with the screen, then the mouse went crazy, the printer next, our internet connection was lost, and finally the hard drive.

It seemed each time one problem got resolved another reared up in its place. Meanwhile as a one computer family we were pretty much disconnected from much of our online activity. This definitely has its positive and negative points, but one would prefer to choose the way, how, why and when a computer break would happen. In my humble opinion, of course. But, let’s just say God has His reasons, and perhaps He just wanted to give me something to write about.

Are You Connecting? (Whispers of Hope- Week 8)

God desires to TAKE our burdens and GIVE His mercy. How many times have we carried a burden we could have daily traded in for His mercies? ~Beth Moore

Picture this scenario:

You and a close friend decide to meet for coffee. This is one who is dear to you, whom you esteem greatly. You look forward to seeing this dear one and long to give your undivided attention completely to whatever their need. More than anything you want to connect with this one to remind them of your great love for them, lest they forget in the busy-ness of the days.

You arrive, and sit at the table anticipating seeing the face you adore. You are brimming with love, and beaming with affirming hope to share with this one precious soul. You wait. And wait.
