21 Days of Journaling in November and a Short but TRUE Story for You!

I stopped in to Gansett Goods,  a local gift store here in Narragansett, Rhode Island, with my dear friend Christine who was visiting from Texas last month. Little did I know that after a casual comment about seeing my book displayed alongside journals would lead to…well, my book alongside journals right there in this unique and wonderful gift shop.

After our initial connection and conversation I ordered books – the first time since 2017 and the store owner Jaime and I  got together and had a little display party. AT least that’s what it seemed like. Apparently, she had a vision for my books to be on display by those journals as well!

We adjusted lots of journals, designer candles with matching matches packages, beautiful mugs and…wait for it…PLANNERS, on the display table and chatted about everything from creativity, artists, and business to those deep things that come up in neat ways by God’s design. How cool is that?

Meanwhile, if you are a local Rhode Islander OR one of our many visitors, be sure and stop by her store for unique and beautiful gifts from local artists and all kinds of creatives everywhere. Hey if you’re in the area and buy my book, I’ll run over there and sign it, if you like, and maybe we can chat over coffee at Cool Beans! I’ll fill you in on the best places to go here in the littlest state with the sweetest shores!

Next thing to know … for those who have purchased my book, THANK YOU- and in November I am thanking you with 21 Days of Journaling! I will hold daily readings, prompts and other ridiculous fun in a private Facebook group to help you fire up your  journaling practice.

Sometimes things don’t go as I plan, imagine or intend. But, I know one thing…what’s for me will not pass me. I can trust God for all I see and don’t see, and all that comes to pass and doesn’t. Same goes for you…are you ready to see where a simple daily journaling practice can lead? How writing thoughts can help transform a heart and mind. Discover the power to be found between the end of the pen and the paper…and the surprises that await as we journal for discovery and delight!

It’s so important that we take the time to celebrate life, cultivate the gifts God gives us and share them with one another. This is my way of sharing, once again, a bit of that -as I go and as WE go together!

How to Help Change the World as a Surfer

As many of you who follow me know, not only do I live in coastal Rhode Island, but I love this tiny state that boasts big beauty, breathtaking scenery and diverse geography.

Although my guest, Jay Recinto, is sharing a message for Surfers and Surfer wanna – be’s like me, I think it is a great message which applies to all of us as people. This earth is not our own, yet we all have a hand in it.

As local beach lovers we ask you to share this post if you agree with the message.

Daughter Fall (A Poem about Letting Go)

WP_20151110_09_44_43_Pro

Poetry can be a snapshot of the day, a moment, a memory, a season. It so often captures what I find hard to articulate in essay form, and like paintings leaves room for varied conclusion. I have written this poetic response for my blogging sister and friend Karen, for her Tuesday at Ten prompt. It was perfect because I had already captured the morning in images by the ocean, but this prompt allowed me to approach with words the unspoken emotions pumping through my mom heart today.

I invite you to have a look at the amazing pictures (amazing because RI is a beautifully photographic state, not because I am a great photographer! ) I grabbed and linked for you to enjoy: Narragansett, RI/Fall.

I hope you enjoy the poem and the pictures…

Dear Summer, It’s Been Nice but…

Salty Brine Beach, Rhode Island

Salty Brine Beach, Rhode Island

Dear Summer,

It’s been nice having you here,  but I think it’s time we had a chat. You have been amazing, and I appreciate you making sure that our little tourist town made some money this season. Not that we are in need, but let’s just say a “green” Summer makes for pleasant Townies. This humidity thing, though…I never have liked. I like it less now that I am almost one year over the half century mark. However the garden is appreciating it, and I the succulent Tomatoes it generously offers.

Shall I pour you an Iced coffee, or hot? Not sure how you do the ice-cube thing.
