What A Little Bird Taught Me about Intercessory Prayer…(5 Minutes for Faith)

Who will love a little sparrow who’s travelled far and cries for rest?

I love the way God teaches lessons through our experiences. Today I am over at 5 Minutes for Faith  sharing another of my mornings by the bird feeder experiences.

God uses the sparrows, so often to teach me -open your eyes, he has great spiritual truths to teach you as you go about your day. When you least expect it!

Join me for this lesson from a little Sparrow on how God loves us enough to allow others to intercede on our behalf, when we grow weary, or discouraged.

Fly with me over there…Head there now!

He Blinded Us With Science (A scientifically, snowy, loving week)

Well in Rhode Island we have had snow, snow, snow, wind and cold. For all of these I am thankful!
I am a snow Bunny. Well, I just like to snuggle in, read and write, so it is a great season for me.
Oh, and taking pictures of that white stuff is fun, too!

Home-school week three was underway and Dad was home to lend a hand in the Science and Math departments- Hooray! He also happened to cook up a storm of his own- my hubby loves to cook and bake. It’s like therapy to Him! So he made Thai food, caramel corn and many other deliciously exotic (not low calorie) dishes. All from scratch. Me? I tried to bake Oatmeal Scotchies over the weekend and they came out looking like granola. But, hubs said they still tasted good. Sigh.

Hub told me to “get lost” on Tuesday morning for a much needed break. I packed up an arsenal of books, pens, paper and headed to Panera. I returned fresh and life seemed good, once again.
All went well and this mama was a happy chickie!

Walking outside in the Winter Wonderland was so beautiful…sadly I did not get down to the beach. Boo!

Then these on Valentine’s Day- Aw! What girl doesn’t love flowers?

Seriously, the bird watching here lately has been getting intense!
Who’s watching who?

Lastly, I am so excited to begin this journey with many of you all this week!
Please, join us for the journey if you would like, but if not- feel free to  drop in and visit along the way. Starting this Wednesday morning (post will be live at 12 AM Eastern) we will be journeying together, a 40 day venture (actually 47)  to draw near to the heart of God and to seek deeper intimacy with Him through our praying pens! We will meet on Wednesdays to share a bit, laugh, encourage and enjoy a bit of community in this sweet space! I will start my journey Wednesday morning…maybe even with a candle burning. I am seeking a special time of intimacy with the Lord.  I will have my pen and paper along with this book. Mostly the Holy Spirit Himself will be present. I will be praying each of you is blessed.

#395- That I am loved, and that this Love is faithful, perfect and true. Forever love comes from above, is poured over us gently as beautiful, manna like snow flurries.

Christian Chicks and Mama Ducks {Faith Life Preservers-Day 15}

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus.
“Everything is possible for him who believes.”
Mark 9:23

I am leaving the church Sunday feeling full of God and loved all through to my inner most parts, when I am stopped by a Sister in Christ who is is determined to give me a word of encouragement.
She asks how our family is doing and holds my arms seeking my eyes with firm gentleness.
I glance at the car, see my hubby, daughter and her friend waiting.
They know when we Christian chicks pause to talk, well there is no stopping us.
She holds me fast.
She asks if she has ever shared the story of the ducks with me?
Um, no. I know she hasn’t, and am remembering the dad who is picking up
his daughter after church at our house.
I’m all ears, waiting to hear what she will say.
We live close by and after all,
it’s good to pause when wisdom taps you on
the shoulder and asks to whisper in your ear.

She tells me of a difficult season she had with her own daughter
and how she was driving on the highway one day, when she noticed a traffic jam.
As she strains to see what all of the commotion is over, she catches the
cause of gridlock in her view.
Before her eyes, stopping traffic,
is a mama duck leading her ducklings across the lanes of now stopped traffic.

She speaks fast and clear that God spoke to her clearly that day.
That the Mama Duck walked and the baby ducks followed.
She said God’s message was that she should keep walking
stand firm and believe without looking back.
It was a message of trusting God and believing for what is to be,
though is not yet.

You see lately I find myself looking back a lot to the times when
things were different.
Sometimes when we look back, we don’t see clearly, friends.
Pain, difficult circumstances and suffering can blur our vision.

I confess:
I am Israel, looking back fearfully at Pharaoh’s fierce army, pursuing hard.
I am Israel, angry with God for the miracle I can’t see yet.
I am Israel cursing and questioning why I have been led to this place in the desert to die.
I am Israel doubting my God is good.
Yet these same people witnessed God destroy the enemy that pursued them.
I am Israel and I bow down to the same God they sang to on that day.
I am Israel and I hope in The One True Living God,
who revealed His fullness in a man,
Yehoshua (יהושע).
Jesus.
Messiah.

I needed that message of hope and encouragement, friend.
Perhaps you need it too.
Have you ever received the gift of an encouraging word
that planted hope in your heart at the time
you needed it (even if you did not know you needed it!)
from a sister in Christ or fellow mom?
We Christian chicks and mothers need to find other
mama ducks who might benefit from a word in season
or promise of hope.

Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed,
“I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
Mark 9:24
A Faith Life Preserver is an act, kind deed, word or anything
that keeps your faith from sinking. It is a sighting, an unexpected gift,
a gentle but needed reproach, a prayer.

For The Birds {Faith Life Preservers-Day 2}

But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,
who teaches more to us than to the beasts of the earth
and makes us wiser than the birds of the air?’
Job 35:11
I am not sure what it is about the creatures that fly.
I find them to be intriguing teachers.
Mysterious, unique.
After all they do, fly.
And haven’t we all wanted to fly at one time or another?
When I was a child I often would dream of flying.
There is something heavenly about birds to me.
That they are not earth bound, but like angels, somehow closer to God
than other creatures.
I mean His eye is on the sparrow.
Then it is also on me.
I connect them, in my mind.
I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine.
Psalm 50:11

I watch them.
They too, are Faith Life Preservers to me.
I observe and it seems God is willing to teach me through these smallest of creatures.
He has ministered to me as I have observed and listened to His still small voice within.
That He knows EVERY bird in the mountains…created each one.
And He knows me.
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:26

Often God speaks to me as I quietly
watch these feathered friends of His.
There is wisdom in them.
I ponder Him caring for them,
yet knowing He values me. More.
Powerful.
Tender.
Truth.
Truth that keeps one soaring instead of sinking.
Do you believe God values you more
than the birds of the air?
He knows them, still!
He knows you.
Rejoice in this tender truth.
Observe the birds and receive grace for today.
