Cashing in on Quiet Time? (and an invitation to begin anew)

Prayer is not a business transaction. We do not give something to get something in return. It is relational intimacy. In prayer, at our point of greatest need, we can encounter God and receive His presence. ~ James Banks

The past couple of weeks have been challenging around this here neck of the woods…er, um…seashore. This little fish here has struggled to swim in some big, wide, previously undiscovered, very scary open water.  Isn’t it just like the enemy to come stealthily into our terrain and try to steal away our new  beautiful, God-given territory?

70 Days and Pressing On (Whispers of Hope Week 10)

Friends, this past Friday was the 7oth day of our journey of prayer together using the Beth Moore Whispers of Hope devotional.

I believe these 10 weeks leading up to Easter could not have been better spent than in strengthening my own prayer life and intimacy with the Lord.

It was my one desire at the onset. I am still amazed and processing how blessed it feels to have followed through on this commitment to God and to you! Thank you so much for journeying and keeping me accountable, touching base and praying for me.

Me First! (Whispers of Hope Week 9)

For this is what the high and exalted One says– he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. ~Isaiah 57:15

I sat at my desk, prayer journal and Bible open…I wrote the word Praise, fell face first on to the pages and wept. The needs I had witnessed around me over the course of the week overwhelmed me to the point of despair… before God.

Are You Connecting? (Whispers of Hope- Week 8)

God desires to TAKE our burdens and GIVE His mercy. How many times have we carried a burden we could have daily traded in for His mercies? ~Beth Moore

Picture this scenario:

You and a close friend decide to meet for coffee. This is one who is dear to you, whom you esteem greatly. You look forward to seeing this dear one and long to give your undivided attention completely to whatever their need. More than anything you want to connect with this one to remind them of your great love for them, lest they forget in the busy-ness of the days.

You arrive, and sit at the table anticipating seeing the face you adore. You are brimming with love, and beaming with affirming hope to share with this one precious soul. You wait. And wait.

How To Have A Victorious Day (Whispers of Hope-Week 7)

“We want Christ to hurry and calm the storm. He wants us to find Him in the midst of it.” ~Beth Moore

It is Sunday night as I peck out these words on my Surface Tablet. It has been a full weekend and I had already had a post ready, but after reading your prayer requests and praying for you all, this weekend, I felt I needed to Regroup, Reframe and Revamp that message.

Over the past 51 days as I have committed to meeting with the Lord in prayer without excuse, I have discovered a number of things, that are changing everything I thought I knew about God… in a good way. I will share more in our next post but today I want to focus completely on just one aspect which I believe is empowering me to live my life in a way that is more yielded to Him on a daily, moment by moment basis.
