Today I am sharing a poem I wrote in August. May it bless you as you read today and ponder the verses at the end for your self.

Abiding Prayer?

What if my very living
is my prayer?

Every moment, thought,
every action…
every interaction,

each word spoken,
each word unspoken,
my silence.

Imagine if Jesus
was with me every moment,
listening?

Isn’t that exactly what He promised?

And as He is,
am I not also able?
Able to do as He spoke.

If I live, and move, and have
my being in Him, and
He lives to intercede for me-

abides in me…
is not my every living, breathing moment
an act of prayer?

“For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ “ Acts 17:28 (NIV)

“But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.”Hebrews 7:24-25 (NIV)

Amen.

Thoughts, comments? Please feel free to let me know below. Thanks for reading. I am writing intermittently but look forward to sharing more as God leads, and time allows.

Dawn: I really can identify what your words say in this poem. I am reminded of the gospel hymn, “He Lives” especially the line, “You ask me how I know He lives, He lives within my heart.” Peace and blessings to you and your hubby.

I appreciated this poem so much, Dawn, especially knowing what you have been going through this past year. Yes, when we abide in Christ, He abides in us, and we can live and move and have our being totally directed by Him, even when it seems our whole world is crashing down around us…He is our peace and comfort and yes, even our JOY. That is the hardest part to believe, that we could actually experience JOY again after such sorrow. but He has promised us that “weeping may endure for the night, but JOY comes in the morning”, and it is true. Maybe not the kind of jumping jehosaphat joy, but the sweet joy that gives us hope and peace and comfort in our hearts and souls. Praise God. I love this post. Love you too.
