The God of My Salvation
“But I have trusted in your steadfast love,
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.Psalm 13:5 (ESV)
This God I sit with, who sits with me,
early mornings on the back patio
amidst chirping birds, grumbling lawn mowers
and the close hum of bees as they busy themselves
with the taste of morning dew, and delectable
delights they alone comprehend,
while cars whoosh by the front of our house
hurrying to various destinations
and I sit quietly listening for the stillness
between sound, promised to those who wait
at the edge of morning, for the voice
that extinguishes the noisy chatter
within the mind, the one that quiets
the heart and quickens the soul
invites me to taste the peace offered,
delight in heaven’s nearness now as
eternity extends a long finger and
for a moment… I am home.
