I wrote this poem last Christmas Eve morning…
Though we wait for a babe in a manger, as gentle as a lamb-let us never forget, the power of His roar.
Behold Judah Rising (Revelation 5:5)
How can we hear you, Lord?
above the chatter,
the thrust of humanity’s momentum-
Shh- wait, listen…
I hear a rum-pum-pum-pum.
Oh, my heart, my soul, my mind-
Listen!
Morning is about to spill over you
with promise.
Hope is a drumbeat
a choir
a symphony.
Are you broken?
Are you weary?
Has your dark night stolen
the dreams of your youth?
Has the journey calloused your heart,
caused the walls of love to crumble?
Have the lies seeped into your soul
causing you to peer
into the madness of today
through shell-shocked eyes?
Shh- wait, listen!
Behold the Child!
Hope breaks through the noise
with infant’s cry-
a lion’s ROAR!
All will be new again,
and Judah will rise
on wings of dawn-
the scepter held firmly
forever.
Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
~Revelation 5:5
