I have just returned from a weekend Writers’ Conference here in New England. My mind is still racing and I am heading into a busy week…I am hoping to catch a bit more time to process the wealth of information, beauty and diverse voices  I experienced during this  event. Meantime, as always finding the way back into my own rhythm includes a bit of poetry. Poetry is my pathway to clarity,  focus, vision, and possibility. I  hope to be sharing more about that soon…I promise big news is on the horizon, and I can’t wait to share it with you! One small step for this writer…and for you, my faithful  readers and friends!

Meanwhile,  I pray this simple affirming words breathe freshness into your day. For those of you who follow my Instagram account, this is my response to the Spontaneous Journal Prompt I shared on August 16th. I wrote it this morning, but it is the ruminating question  on my mind as I consider my  current writing life.

Illation

When the world clamors loud, we can run to the honesty of nature and trust the quiet communication of a poem. Poetry, photographs, paintings and sculptures- all creative efforts  speak to us in a language all their own. Let’s listen.

It is when the day is dark

the need for Light becomes great

Within the darkest night,

lies the greatest possibility for

brightest light

Now is the time for your shining…

Now is the time to shine,

to fly, to burn… to light up this current darkness

with the hope of Eternal Light

Ironing Not Required or The Me I Long To Be

I stand before twenty-two of my husband’s  button down, collared shirts this morning and am considering taking on a task I have long avoided. As a self-confessed domestically challenged diva I wholeheartedly embrace reality. But reality is, I love my man, and certainly want to be a blessing…maybe even do the thing I despise most. After toilet bowl scouring, spider killing, cooking, dusting, floor washing…oh hey, wait…the list is too long. Stay with me-back to ironing.

You could say,  ironing and me go together like…oil and vinegar.

BUT, as  one who believes old dogs can learn new  tricks and miracles still happen, I will share with you this  post about my domestically challenged life and how God is still working on me in this area, on the OTHER side of fifty.

Hope you enjoy this little re-post from 2014…and the invitation at the end.
