…we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up. Hebrews 12:1
Good Morning, Friends. Do you recall on my last post I mentioned I’d written two poems that morning? Well here is the second, based on my meditation and reflection of the readings in Hebrews. A lot really stood out to me, and as you know, every time we read scripture new insights are revealed. This is why we never grow weary reading the same books. If we approach the Word of the Living God with expectation, humility and sincerity, we will hear new things. I know this is true for me. I pray it is for you too. Our God is an infinite wellspring of inspiration.
Great is His faithfulness!
Morning Meditation: Hebrews Chapters 10-13
Faith or Flesh
One or the other
we must choose
where our heart does lean:
Army of man
or hand of God-
Where will our hope convene?
Surely it is poorly placed
if the heart does faint
when outcomes don’t go our way
and our default setting reveals
hate.
Do we resort to an army
of fleshly counterparts
to slander and travail-
ungodliness to plot?
Are we deceived into thinking
all is lost
and all are doomed
spouting off contention
by blindness consumed?
Glorifying mortal men, and all we create,
believing oneself superior,
is what will seal our fate.
If instead you’ll consider
the One who created you,
in Truth there is freedom
beyond what we say and do!
There’s still time
to embrace
by faith the unseen king
in whose blood freedom was bought
for all,
in whose name does freedom ring.
So we can confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper.
I will not be afraid.
What can mortals do to me?”

Our pastor’s sermon repeated the truth that Jesus is “Lord of Kings”…sovereign over all authorities!
