A Simple Prayer for Morning

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” ~John 20:29

Dear Lord,

As I sit here contemplating today,

considering the plethora of possibilities

storming my gates and crowding my mind,

I ask you for the power

you used to calm the sea of Galilee-

to quiet the chaos within me.

Allow me peace throughout the day

to share with others along the way.

Give me focus, strength and joy

in abundance to employ,

blessing those you have for me,

and those with whom I keep company-

that I might be salt and light,

one like Paul-

who fights the good fight…

faithful in the little things,

confident of what it brings

to those who hunger and thirst for grace,

but find it not in this stark place.

Give me wisdom, a heart like yours,

as I follow through Your open doors,

inviting all,

though some refuse-

heeding your call, I’ve nothing to lose-

for you are the one who loves my soul…

Hold tightly my reins,

guide me to your goals-

satisfy me with

your sure delight-

Ever present, though not in sight.

Good thoughts in your poem. We should all remember and believe that Jesus told us He would be with us even to the end of the age.(Matt 28:20)

Amen, my friend. A prayer for any time of the day, I’d say.

So beautiful and heartfelt!!! Could I please put it in my journal? Of course it’s a travelers notebook. It would only be for my reading and contemplation! Thank you!
