Dear Diary…and so begins the journey of a lifetime.

Pictured are the Rag & Bone Bindery Journals that are my personal favorites from my entire collection of roughly 180 filled assorted journals.

Today I thought I would tackle Random Journal Day a little bit differently, if you don’t mind. As I thought about what to share for this last small gathering of friends, I considered which journal (s) came immediately to my mind when I thought of my complete collection.

I grabbed the two books that came forthright to my attention..there was no doubt. The beautiful crafted matching beauties I picked up in Newport, RI and filled two consecutive Summers in 1998 and 1999 are the most beautiful, well made journals I own.

But, it is more than that…they hold such a season of life, that is unique, as all journals do. A season which called for treating oneself to lovely things…not to be indulgent but  to acknowledge one’s own worth. It was this for me. A beautiful journal affirms, “you are precious and loved, beautiful and valued and” to its keeper.

Join me for a video share as a page through and select a Random entry to read out loud for this final Random Journal Day.

*Please note, after I filmed the video, I popped online to see if the maker of these fine journals is still in existence. Lo and behold, to my surprise and joy, YES!

Guess who wants to visit a local journal making company? Guess, guess! I will let you know in the days ahead if I am able to share more. Wouldn’t that be the Bee’s Knees?

Stay tuned for Journaling as a Lifestyle (series) and  more opportunities to nurture  your journaling journey – whatever season you are walking through today!

Thank you for being here!

Oh sigh…. I must tell you that I read (and listened!!!) to this post w/ bittersweetness. Finding you and your work, Dawn, has been such a gift. And I have our Kel to thank for that. I was so very glad that she connected us. I love your gifted writing, quirky (may I say that?!) videos (which I love!), passion for all things journal and understanding how important they are in our relationship with God, and for your encouragement and enthusiasm as a person. Im a newcomer to RJD, having not discovered you till fairly recently, and I’m bummed that I am not getting favorite blogs via WP anymore. It’s a royal pain. I so rely on my email inbox for quick and easy reading. That said, I have tried to pop by whenever I can, and always love what I find. I’m the kind of person that doesn’t like change (go figure, huh, because as you know, I love butterflies, and if they don’t represent change, I don’t know what does). But I find it hard. And so it is bittersweet for me to say good-bye to this aspect of your wonderful ministry. And I have loved peaking into others’ journals via your forum. But I can also see that change is your gateway to something greater as you mention exciting new forums on your horizons. The most important thing any of us can do is to go w/ God’s flow and be obedient to next things. So that is the very ssweet part of what you are saying w/ this farewell post. I wish you so many sweet new things, Dawn. If I hve time later, perhaps I can share an excerpt. I have to prepare for my Bach concert. I missed yesterday’s 3-hour dress rehearsal to attend the funeral of a darlingyoung boy who died suddenly at the age of 15…no explanation. We are all reeling in grief. So now I have to shift gears to put finishing touches on my music for today’s concert. So this may be later that I share. Also, thanks for letting me know about Susie’s book. I recently met her online. I loved the color, and again, I love ALL THINGS JOURNAL AND BUTTERFLY. It sounds like a wonderful read. I bid you adieu, which is never good-bye, and can’t wait to watch you live your life pen and journal in hand.
With much love and my enthusiasm right back at you (and no time to proof!)
    Lynn

Oh Dawn! Loved seeing and hearing your cuteness in the video! Those journals are true treasures, what a fun find! And thank you once again for spearheading RJD for so long with so much faithfulness! You took it farther than I ever could have. Thank you also for being my cheerleader for my book! I am having a blast and basking in the glow of newborn book life at the moment! I love you girl!

Dawn, thank you for sharing your journal. I noticed the one you read from(BTW very lovely!) was unlined. Personally, I can’t stand ‘um!! My current one is a composition notebook with those dreaded lines, but they’re inexpensive, and can’t afford what I really want.
I’m looking forward to the next adventure in journaling!! Thanks again!

The journals are beautiful…and my face is SAD…pouty and sad…but, well, totally can see that sometimes even the best of things need to be re-vamped!! So happy to hear the company that makes your fave journals are still in business…hope you get to visit soon!!!

I’ve been out of town this weekend – to a scrapbooking retreat – and haven’t check e-mail or FB in three days!!! And, I totally forgot (???) about RJD and didn’t write or schedule one…I will try to do that tomorrow, if not too late!! Look forward to the Journaling as a Lifestyle series!

Dawn: Thank you for heading up the Random Journal Day group. I got to meet several wonderful ladies during the time we had together. I enjoyed seeing the video. You are right. this writer doesn’t watch very many videos.
