“Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.” ~Henry Ward Beecher

Well, here we are on the brink of a new year…again! I am pondering and praying, perhaps as you have been, all the possibilities. It got me thinking maybe in my ancientness, I might have a few bits of wisdom to share. Or not. You’ll have to read to see, won’t you. Ahem. Read on for my momentary brilliance…or lack thereof.

Well…here we are, close to the anticipated Day. It is the most amazing thing to anticipate the coming of a special event or occasion. So much planning, so many details to attend. What ever always goes off perfectly without a hitch? Well, I will tell you…

The eve of the birth of the Christ Child, everything leading up to it…and after – went off exactly as God willed. As was foretold. Messiah. Chosen One. Savior. Let all the earth rejoice and be glad. Serves a purpose. His purpose, and will to His glory.

So what is left to say? What is left to grasp?

Journaling with Christmas Cards

Today’s prompt is simple, especially if you are a Christmas Card saver. First you’ll need to gather all your Christmas cards together, or at least your most recent. Then you will have a chance create in your journal or maybe create a new journal all together!

I save and need to purge my Christmas cards…I actually need to purge a lot more than my Christmas cards but that is a story for another day…

When I mention the greatest mystery in history of the world, what comes to your mind? Well, as I sat thinking in the early hours I realized there are many mysteries known…or unknown, to mankind, as the case may be. I decided to do a quick search, and if you want to fathom a few, have at it here.

But, like it or not, rejoice over it or not, there is a great mystery that all must eventually contend with for themselves, for there is no getting around it. I have been Re-enjoying (I know it’s not a word, but I just made it one- and that is OK, right Kel?) God Is In The Manger by Dietrich Bonhoeffer anew this Advent season. I am faced with the reality of wrestling with the Great Mystery of God once more, and it never ceases to amaze me.
