The Appeal of Planners and Trusting God with Our Fairy Tale Plans

Planning our days requires nothing more than a blank piece of paper and pen. Why then this crazy desire of many to have elaborately designed and decorated pages to squeeze into colorful boxes To Do lists,  places to go, reminders and so much more?

I have a theory and you may agree or not agree but the fact is, I believe life is messy. I also believe when our individual lives get messy, and difficult -oh and, um, please let me know if your life is not messy and/or difficult so I can come move in with you immediately. More

On Advent, Bonhoeffer, and Waiting

I have a short list of favorite writers. That might surprise you, but it shouldn’t…because when your favorite Author is God, it makes you rather persnickety. Dietrich Bonhoeffer is on that short list. His words inspire me, challenge me, convict me. His words lead me closer to the life of Christ within I want to tap into daily. His life of passionate opposition to Hitler’s racist evil campaign against the Jewish people is a powerful testimony of standing with and for Jesus in the face of adversity and passive religion. If you want to read more about this humble servant, theologian and leader you can find many resources.  More

For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’- Acts 17:28

Just for Today (A Poem of Thanksgiving)

Today I offer a few words I wrote back in 2011 when I started blogging and sharing my thoughts online. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, going through…may these words be words that edify, and multiply thanksgivings in your soul.

Coffee with Poppa

The blonde haired boy walks tall past each of the singly occupied tables with a sweet confidence that defies his small stature. Finally, he rests his juice box on the seventh table, climbs onto the chair, legs dangling, slides into a seated position, immediately scanning the room with keen blue eyes. A wall barrier separates the seating in this coffee shop from the ordering counter.

Although there is no adult in sight, the boy begins to call out, in a steady rhythm,

“Poppa, Poppa, Poppa”.

Happy Monday, friends! I’m delighted you are here. Will you join me at Faith ‘n Friends today where I am serving up a coffee shop tale of prayerful proportion!

Just head over there by clicking HERE!
