Sycophant

I saw your demon

crouching in the corner,

feeding on your apathy-

gloating,

while you filled your belly.

 Dining on desires and delights…

you recline comfortably,

glorying in

godlessness-

you are

content

in your complacency.

Your soul shivers…

at your

self-satisfaction,

shrivels,

cowering,

grows cold.

Finding joy

in the shadows

seals your fate…

Swallowing hard

all the lies

You’ve been told.

Vanity

keeps you shackled

even in

freedom.

Linking with dVerse (at some point), because it has been awhile and I miss the crew there.
