The Clock and The Calendar

This week I have been reading the Book of Ephesians. In chapter 2, Paul paints with his words an incredible image of Christ and the riches we have in Him , and I never get tired of reading them.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,  in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.  All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,  made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,  in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

-Ephesians 2: 1-7 (NIV)

There are so many riches in these verses, but God has a way of bringing bringing things to light through a number of means. At least He does this in my life! As I attended a Bible Study this week, a lovely woman spoke up and shared about Jesus lifting her out of the pit, with excitement. I affirmed He did likewise for me.

I know the pit well, but I know that despite my prior pit dwelling and too many to count pity party moments, God has been faithful to me through Christ Jesus, my Lord and Savior. I know He will not not fail me. Ever. My hope is in Him, and His faithfulness ALONE.

There is no pit deeper than the length of my Saviour’s arms. May He be your hope today. .

The Clock and the Calendar

Let me be fixed on the everlasting grace,

not discouraged by those who cannot see…

who are

bound by the here and now

for I am not

bound by time

because You are the

Lord of the Clock

and the Calendar-

we,  but grains of sand-

tinier than the tiniest

of all,

secure in the Master’s hand.

The Universe is yours alone

and none do

comprehend you-

bound by pursuits and pleasures,

distracted by their devotion to death,

and dangerous things;

Corrupted by compassion-less cackling,

Deceived by the promise

that false hope brings.

Self-righteous, self-centered

self-promoting, self-serving

self-helping, self -shackled

it’s all hindering.

Puppets to an unseen puppeteer,

the Ruler of the Kingdom of the Air-

fearing flesh instead of fire,

each consumed by their own desire…

Lead me not from the Narrow Path

for I long for your grace,

and not your wrath-

and “Peace, be still”-

He made it so

when for me He battled,

God’s true foe.

This Jesus did

what could not be done

on this earth by not one!

He took it all upon that cross,

with each drop of blood-

counted not the cost,

of all the sin

to His own loss,

Yet gained, He did

freedom for me

as spikes nailed him to that tree-

of life, of death

and life once more…

so I could walk through

Eternity’s Door.

To the King of King

and Lord of Lords

I stand firm,

in my armour

with my own drawn sword-

bowing not to flesh and blood,

but only to His Truth and Love.

For love came down into my Pit,

carried me out,

now here I sit,

swinging my feet from heavenly seat-

awaiting His return

when all Evil will retreat-

Our final destiny-

In Him complete.

To Him be Glory, Power, Strength and Praise.

Amen.

I can only say amen. To me, you underlined the perfect words: faithful and alone.
