If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write.

– Martin Luther King, Jr.

When you think

no one is listening

time crawls-

belly down

on the ground,

the hours behind itself

like a pillow sack

full of your

untold stories.

Your inner moanings,

longings untold,

fears of growing old

and regrets

write your obituary

in bold font,

just the draft though.

You wonder if there is still time…

looking at the clock

robbing hours

from reality-

your one life.

“Stop, Thief!”

you hear the words

as if by a stranger,

yet your lips part

with accusations,

hesitations and

all meaningless!

Will you not heed the voice

quivering from within?

Will you stuff it down,

abort the babe

while yet he lies dormant

awaiting promised freedom?

Will you release the scribe,

rouse the sleeping prophet-

or continue in your fattened trance,

denying that which you were born to do,

for such a time as this.

  1. Dawn- This poem and quote are going into my journal! Girlfriend, this is exactly the message I was hearing from the movie I mentioned in my recent post! Love this poem, so visual.

    1. From the Book THief, Kel? Really? Wow…that is interesting…I am drawn to the title of the book and cover design when I came across it, but being such a slow reader with too many ideas and distractions, I better see the movie! lol.
