This poem was written last Tuesday during my morning quiet time. God’s Word is an inexhaustible wellspring of inspiration.
I consider this a scripture layered poem, as the Holy Spirit while I wrote prompted me with many verses.
Our God is creative, not mute.
Listen for Him, and to Him.
God Does Not Roar
Satan roars-
here, everywhere
I hear his loudness
in the roar of applause
and every cause
that opposes The Way.
Satan roars-
with sharpened claws,
rushing in
without pause,
chases the righteous, eats them whole
licks his lips
while pursuing his goal.
He is a thief, a liar and snake,
your only enemy
make no mistake.
His single aim,
to snuff out Truth,
blaspheme God’s name
and steal your youth.
Satan roars,
lips smack death-
longs to take your very breath, and
lead you to the pit of fear-
leave you weeping in despair.
All the while he causes strife
for mother, father, husband, wife-
Flee from him,
or lose your life!
*
Escape through Him who is the Way, Truth and Life.
*
God does not roar…
But, I hear Him
in the buzzing bees,
and wind through trees,
in chirping birds,
soft-spoken words.
In water lapping
along the shores,
and even in my husband’s snores,
in laughter of a precious child.
in hooves of horses running wild.
I hear him most in lonely places
while pondering
his many traces
and the evidence
of His Son
who is All-
beginning and end,
humble servant,
the sinners friend
who came down,
from on high
to fulfill God’s plan
to live and die.
As a boy and Son
for all mankind
The Holy One.
He frees us from the sin that binds
by bringing us closer
to the Divine.
Jesus is God’s Chosen One
who defies and defines all of time,
opens ears, eyes and minds.
Frees us from the sin that binds,
He frees us from the sin that Binds…
God does not roar.

“God does not roar but I hear him” and you proceed to name the places where you/we DO hear him! Loved it, Dawn!! Love your poetry!! Thanks for sharing…I am mostly hearing him through the scriptures; but…well, I do try to “be still” and let him speak to me. So far; I’m just not sure…

Truly “satan is like a roaring lion, seeking who he may devour” but God speaks in “a still, small voice”…thanks for urging us to listen to His loving whispers!
