I can’t stop pondering the wonders of His love.
This morning I lingered in His presence, and He graced me with these words…
Please join me this Christmas night for a poem to celebrate all that matters…
Also if you happen to be in Rhode Island on Sunday the 28th, The Neighborhood Guild Creative Writer’s Group will be sharing stories and words by the water at Java Madness 2-5 in the afternoon.
I might read this one…what do you think?
All That Matters
Lord, I thank you for material things,
All the good that they bring,
But all that matters is that you came;
that you do know my name…
for that I am most grateful.
On Christmas Day may I just say-
a few words?
Thank you that your presence brings
Joy not found in shiny things
Nor contained in a box
In noisy malls
Or bonds and stocks,
But only in the truth that stands
The test of time and desert sands
Storms calmed only by the hands
Of the One who formed the sea,
The Universe, you and me.
And by His hands He holds all things-
princes, powers and mighty kings.
All bow down before his name
never the same
For by this tiny baby born
In the manger, Christmas morn
We are all born into one
Miracle of God’s Only Son!
A Unity that comes by three
Transforming all for eternity
For this reason is why He came,
To redeem by grace
In His name
God came down and offered up
Sacrifice in loving cup
To save and heal,
Sinners who need
to be washed clean.
All that matters here today
Love came to us
To show the way.
This is the good news that came
To shepherds, Wise Men and the lame,
To the blind, both rich and poor
His body broke open Heaven’s door.
This good news travels far and wide
To this day still His love abides,
From one manger, to the cross,
Mercy came to save the lost.
For you who stand outside the gate,
If you have breath it’s not too late-
So bow your knee, repent today
Open arms await you, with him you‘ll stay
Full of hope, joy and peace- In Him your life will have new lease.
But the debt’s already paid,
On Calvary’s cross, His life was laid.
Now to Him that holds the keys to all
Life and death, cure for the Fall-
In Him we are made complete
Awaiting heavenly seat.
No harm can come to we who claim,
Jesus is Lord, Name above all Names!
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly more than we ask,
into His Kingdom…
To this God be the Glory, Amen.
