So, at dVerse this week, Anthony Desmond served up a prompt for “Poetics” saying “Let’s tap into that childlike creativity for today’s Poetics:
create a fantasy world, and try to stay away from the familiar; be outlandish
in your writing, e.g., trees take root in the clouds and it rains
blackberries and oranges, instead of cats and dogs… corny example, but you get the point.” Not sure I accomplished it but it was a fun write for sure!  Go check out the rest of the post, and links after you read mine- it is a great place to hang out!

Well… my muse showed up this morning and we journeyed together, here is the fruit of that journey. ..

The Not So Hidden World of Notnarnia

It’s whispered, they’re crazy

lunatics, too

found behind curtains

and things misconstrued

they fall to the floor,

tumbling free

scatter ’bout places

where others may be

dancing, reveling and whispering lies

creating great mischief

wherever they hide

Among the specks of dust they ride,

rejoicing in darkness

and hopes to deride

those that love pure fairy dust

they scoff at them, laughing

instead bringing rust.

Small, unseen, clown like beasts

their legion, dominion

holding great feasts

Dining on the excess and strife

swinging from cobwebs

they lead raucous lives

though unseen they may be

there presence is felt,

when you sneeze, snap, buckle

or tighten that belt.

Everywhere they lurk and and scheme

each wearing a smirk

as they arrive on the scene-

mayhem they bring,

loudly they sing

like drunken pirates on open sea

chug-chug-chugging catastrophe.

So mind your mirrors, corners, and things,

the places you visit

and all that you bring

back to your place

carrying with

a host of gremlins

unknown to you

but those you host now,

might anger brew.

Keep your own creatures at bay,

be on guard for the ones

that stow away,

for you host them

each and every day.

Notnarnia
